Fall Brings Rash of Beached Boats (Gallery) – Peter Swanson

Seven boats have grounded onto East Coast beaches so far this fall, most of them were sailboats heading south.
THE FIRST: Aquillon found herself on Jacksonville Beach on Oct. 4, the first of seven vessels to do so on the East Coast this fall. Owner Luke Rehberg said he was anchored off the beach to watch the annual air show. The boat became a monthlong tourist attraction as Rehberg continued to live aboard awaiting salvage. That never happened, and eventually the boat was abandoned and Rehberg was to be charged $15,000 for its removal. (Photo by First Coast News via YouTube)
