LNM: AICW MM 5.8, Comments Requested, Deviation, July 23-24, Norfolk-Southern #7 RR Bridge, VA
With a closed vertical clearance of 7ft, the Norfolk Southern #7 Railroad Bridge is the third ICW RR bridge south of Mile Zero. These 6 hr closures will require adjustments to your float plan. Please provide comments on the above deviation by July 10th.

Elizabeth River – Norfolk Southern #7 Bridge – Bridge Deviation – Request for Public Comment The US Coast Guard is seeking public comment for a requested bridge deviation for the Norfolk Southern #7 Railroad Bridge. The Norfolk Southern #7 Bridge over the Elizabeth River, mile marker 5.8, in Chesapeake, VA is requesting a 2-day deviation to conduct repairs to the railroad tracks. During the repairs, the power will be disconnected, and the bridge maintained in the closed to navigation position. The bridge would not be able to open for emergency vessel traffic. Requested Dates/Times for Deviation: July 23, 2024, 9 am – 3 pm July 24, 2024, 9 am – 3 pm Vessels that could safely transit the bridge in the closed position could do so at any time. During all other times the bridge will operate in accordance with the published operating schedule outlined in 33CFR117.997(d). Please provide comments on the above deviation by July 10th to the US Coast Guard Waterways Management Division via email at VirginiaWaterways@uscg.mil.
