The 2026 El Niño continues to quickly strengthen and spread. The NOAA Climate Prediction Center (CPC) states that there is a greater than 90% probability that a very strong El Niño will develop during the upcoming fall and winter. In addition, NOAA indicates a potential (69% chance) for a historic event during October–December 2026.
