Tropical Storm Dolly has degenerated into an open tropical wave, according to the National Hurricane Center, however, still has maximum sustained winds of 35 knots while it moves west at 22 knots. Satellite images suggest that there still remains a low level circulation pattern.
Dolly is currently in a hostile environment with significant southwesterly shear and dry air. These conditions should continue for at least the next 2-3 days, and the remnants should slowly weaken during this time. The system is expected to bring heavy rainfall and potential flash flooding to the Leeward Islands, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Hispaniola over the weekend and into early next week.
