An intense extratropical storm low off the Mid-Atlantic coast continues to drift slowly north at about 5 knots. Winds of 40 to 55 knots are producing significant wave heights of 4-9 meters within about 180 nm west and 240 NM north of the center.

This system is expected to become semi-stationary just off the NJ coast then gradually weaken and drift northwest to near NYC by early Monday.

Large areas of the Mid-Atlantic coast from Cape Hatteras to southern New England are being affected by strong winds and major coastal flooding.
