      Grilled Cabbage with Bacon

During our 2 week boating vacation I bought a new cookbook.  If you are a Food Network addict like I am you will know who Bobby Flay is.  He is known for grilling everything.  I folded down many pages, so many in fact, I will be grilling and picture shooting way through our winter months to make them all.  So, until I start whipping up and changing some new recipes for the grill, here is a favorite recipe from my cookbook.  It is inexpensive, only 6 items needed, speedy to make, pretty on the eyes, and tastes fantastic.  Give it a try and let me know what you think.  Write to me at sandiesgalley@gmail.com and visit my website to see more of the book and also our new nautical store at www.sandiesgalley.com.  Until next month, keep on cruisin'.

      Grilled Cabbage with Bacon

1 large head cabbage, quartered and cored
2-3 strips of raw bacon, cut in halves, or thirds
1 small sweet onion, sliced thick and cut in half
1/2 stick butter, cut in slices
      Garlic salt
      Fresh ground pepper

Using a large disposable aluminum-cooking pan, spray with non-stick butter.  Place cabbage pieces in first, then add onion evenly over cabbage.  Now place the pieces of bacon on top.  Sprinkle with 3 to 4 shakes of garlic salt and pepper over everything, and place the butter slices here and there on top.  Cover with foil and grill on low until cabbage is soft, about 15 minutes.  That's it, you are done and it only took 25 minutes from start to table.  Serves 4.

P.S.  If you don't happen to have an aluminum foiled pan like me when I made this last weekend, just use a large piece of foil. It worked just fine, better than my memory did when getting the groceries needed.  Ha ha.
