    • [EXPIRED] Sandie’s Nuts and Bolts

It's munchie time!  That's right time to munch and why not make your own, which is SO much better than buying the well known Chex Mix.  This recipe has been in our family for a long time and you can change up the dry ingredients for the ones you like.  That's what I did.  Some recipes call for pretzels, well I am not a pretzel lover, therefore I substitute them for the oat bran sesame sticks.  Other recipes call for Cherrios, I omitted those and added a cheese cracker.  Our whole family loves this snack not only during the holidays but all year long and I am sure that yours will too.  Happy Holidays to all and keep the emails coming by going to my website, www.sandiesgalley.com.  If you missed some of the recipes of the month, you will find each and everyone of them there.  See you next year!  :)

      Sandie's Nuts and Bolts

      1 box Rice Chex
      1 box Corn Chex
      1 box Wheat Chex
      1 box Parmesan & Garlic Cheez-its
1 (11 oz) container of Oat Bran Sesame Sticks (found in deli or produce area)
      2 lbs. mixed nuts
4 sticks butter, or 1 lb.
      1 heaping T. garlic salt
      2 heaping T. garlic powder
      1 T. Lawry's season salt
      2 T. Worcestershire sauce

      Pre-heat oven to 250
Using the top and bottom of a large rectangular roaster, split the cereal, crackers, sesame sticks and nuts in half, mix gently.
Add butter to small saucepan, melt over med-low heat, then add garlic salt, garlic powder, Lawry's and Worcestershire sauce.  Stir well, remove from heat, spoon evenly over cereal mixture and stir carefully.  Place roasters in oven, bake for 2 hours, stirring every half hour.  Remove when done, let cool, pour into a large, covered cookie tin and store in for up to 5 weeks.  If you are lucky enough to have leftovers after the holidays, it makes a great snack while watching your favorite TV show.
