    • [EXPIRED] Rattlesnake Cove Anchorage (near Dog Island and Carrabelle, Florida)

This posting is a correction to an earlier one here on the Northern Gulf page. The anchorage in question lies near the Northern Gulf ICW's easterly genesis at Dog Island, with Carrabelle nearby. HOWEVER, as Captain Doug points out, the anchorage in question is NOT a part of Dog Island.

This is in regard to a reference on the Northern Gulf [page of the Cruisers' Net] to Rattlesnake Cove and Dog Island.
Rattlesnake cove is on St. George Island, not Dog Island.  It is possible to bring a shallow draft cruising vessel in there if you REALLY know what you are doing.  There is a series of oyster bars at the entrance.  I'd sound it with your dinghy first.
Rattlesnake is behind the State Park, pretty, but nowhere to go once you are ashore.  You would be better served to anchor in one of the three great spots on Dog Island.
      Just my .02.
