9/11/15 My husband and I cruised icw from south harbor marina to barefoot marina for our first adventure on the icw. Upon our arrival at barefoot; we informed the dock master that my husband could use some assistance in docking due to being partially disabled from a stroke 6 years ago. They were more than welcome to accommodate us and assist us in anyway possible upon arrival and departure and our entire stay. They are definitely a must stop on your travels. MOST definitely we will be returning to barefoot on our next adventure. Thanks so much to Barefoot Marina for a Great first experience!!! Joe Miller
We usually stop on the opposite side of the ICW, but thought we would try it out on the other side. Good choice. Dock master was great help, facedock quiet, and the onsite restuarant had very good happy hour.
Stayed here 4/28 and 4/29/13. Stayed here in fall. Stayed on face dock with no problems. Could have gone to inside dock if desired. Great help docking. Good shore facilities. Now has decent restaurant which is big feature due to distance to restaurants on east shore. Good shopping within a couple of miles but no way, except cab, to get there. Good place to stop for night since anchorages are limited in area. Can’t beat the $1.25/ft. price given the nice facility. Will stop again. s/v Skye
Helpful dockmaster, Cheap fuel, a pool and hot tub with nice showers. The on shore restaurant is a typical marina restaurant with a good raw bar and happy hour till 6pm. The food was good, not great. JackP
We have spent several months at Barefoot Marina, off and on usually in the off-season, say November – April. It is a wonderful facility, great floating concrete (Bellingham)docks, right on the ICW. Easy walk or bike ride across the bridge to Barefoot Landing and lots of restaurants and shops….although the shopping is not as nice as it was 5 or 6 years ago. Also, Alabama Theater is right there and has good shows. Talk directly to Bill Rathbon about rates. They are very inexpensive for what you get…nice showers, pool, very clean facility. Be sure to eat at the Seafood Hut across the street and slightly north of Barefoot Landing – small and little atmosphere, but great food and great owners. I can guarantee you’ll get a hug before you leave. [If] you’re talking about being there for several months you might want to look in to purchasing one of the restaurant discount books, which offer many great buy one get one free deals at the nicest restaurants. Use it twice and its paid for itself! Sold by Ritz Limo, I’m sure Bill can help you get in touch…the owner keeps his boat there at the marina I think. Betsy Johnson Rick ‘n Roll
Barefoot Resort Marina; This was, and will be again, our home marina. We live at Barefoot Resort so this was an obvious choice for us. We have sailed up and down the East coast between here and New England for the last several years. Lately more north than south I’m afraid. We have seen the good, the bad and the UGLY when it comes to east coast marinas. In my opinion you will not find a nicer, cleaner and more upscale facility then Barefoot Resort Marina. Bill Rathburn and George have been friends and honorary crew members aboard Spirit, our C&C 40. They are also very pet friendly with our Labrador Genny. You all know that they are quite competitive regarding dock fees. Spirit has a 7′ draft. (7’3″ to be exact). She gets in and out at high water. Other times require caution as we have been aground there also. But forewarned is forearmed as I like to say. Just be aware of the height of tide when approaching with over 5′ of draft. It is worth it.
On May 20th I was getting ready to dock at Barefoot Resort Marina(that’s the one on the left as you go north on the AICW) in N. Myrtle Beach, SC. A dock hand was standing on the face dock directing me into the dock when I ran aground on a sand bar. It was low tide and I draw 5 ft. I could not wiggle or move my boat from the bar. I called Tow Boat U.S. and the Little River , SC location dispatched a boat. It was on scene within 40 minutes. I have a 42 ft. Endeavour Sail and within a few minutes the tow operator hooked a line to the bow and proceeded to pull my craft straight through the shoal. It stalled in the middle of the shoal and the tow operator increased the power significantly and pulled us through the shoal and off. Later I discovered that a shoal had been building for some time and no one at the marina told us about it. The next day when we left, we had to go very carefully until we found the opening through the shoal to get out into the waterway. The shoal is within 50 ft. of the dock and in the middle of the waterway. We did not think too much of this incident until about a week later when the bilge pump started going off more than usual. Then another week went by and we were in Ocracoke and the bilge pump was going off every 30 seconds. We made it back to Oriental and was pulled out by Sailcraft and water came pouring out of our keel. The bottom of the keel had been punctured and the fuel tank and water tank had been ruptured. We had been taking on water for over 3 weeks and it finally got to the point that it was filling up the bilge. Our boat is now high and dry with the bottom of the keel cut out. The boat yard is going to remove the generator and remove the water and fuel tanks and build custom tanks to take their place and repair the keel. The boat will be in the boat yard most of the summer. So, please be careful when transiting the area around the Barefoot Marina resort and stay in the middle of the channel. They are just south of the section called the “rock pile” in Myrtle Beach. Captain Phil Mullins S/V Katash Isle of Palms, SC
I can echo the recent reviews. We stayed at Barefoot Marina April 21-22, 2012 and found the facility and the staff terrific. The layout is great, with the dock close to the office and only a short walk to the showers, laundry, etc. Also had a nice dinner at the new restaurant, DockSiders, last night. Flounder was very nice, and reasonable. The rates here can’t be beat, $1.25/foot, and free pump-out. Boat-US discount on fuel as well. It’s only a short walk over the swing bridge to the ocean which is beautiful here.
Rick and I have stayed at Barefoot Marina since October, 2011. We just left today April 22, 2012, headed for Norfolk. We just wanted to pass on that this marina is a great place to stay for an extended time or just for overnight. The service at the docks is great and the attitude of the entire staff is outstanding. They have excellent facilities and a restaurant on site. A grocery store, drugstore and medical facility are within walking distance. Barefoot Landing with all the shops and more restaurants and other entertainment options are also within walking distance. You get all this at very excellent rates ($1.25). We cannot begin to say enough nice things about our stay at this marina. Rick & Margi Decatur Journey 44′ Endeavour Power Cat
We took a short Easter trip south last week. After a very unfriendly “Welcome to South Carolina” by the bridge tender at the Little River Swing Bridge we found ourselves with good weather and great SC Marinas. The first was the Barefoot Marina. Friendly helpful staff and clean facilities. If you are a biker or runner/walker this marina is located in an area with great wide sidewalks that stretch out in some very nice neighorhoods. Also, short walk across bridge to shops and restaurants.
Many [cruisers] are about to arrive in Myrtle Beach, so we wanted them to know of one of our favorite places. Having just spent a month at The Barefoot Marina in Myrtle Beach, SC, we thought it appropriate we let others know of our experience. The Barefoot Marina, site of the 2010 Spring [AGLCA] Rendezvous, is on the western side of the ICW across from Barefoot Landing and the Alabama Theatre. The staff is friendly and courteous. The private showers and restrooms are clean and well stocked. The concrete floating docks are the most stable and best floating docks we have ever seen or tied to. There is a restaurant/bar/grill onsite. There is a place on the dock for daily DOCKTAILS. Pumpout is FREE. Gas/Diesel is available at competitive prices. Dockage is very fairly priced and very competitive. Cable TV and Wi-Fi are included in the dockage rate and keypad locked gates surround the docks. Washers and dryers(they actually dry your clothes). We hope everyone will consider this fine marina. We, Rick and Betsy on Rick ‘N Roll, have no financial interest in the property. It is just one of our favorite places to stay. Rick Johnson
We have kept the ‘Fran C’ at Barefoot Marina for two years now and have nothing but good to say! 1st class personnel and facilities; Bill and George really do a great job. Looking forward to year Three!
We recently moved our boat from Florida and after checking out a lot of marinas selected Barefoot Marina at North Myrtle Beach. It’s pretty far north of Beaufort but lots of benefits; Great people, excellent docking system, fresh water and the most reasonable rates that we found anywhere. Also have diesel at very competitive rates. The web site doesn’t provide a lot of info but does include contact information. Check with Bill or George, they really work to make your stay pleasant. I have kept our boat at Barefoot Yacht Club for over a year now and it is a great place for the family. We love the pool and the employees at the marina. There are a lot of things to do close by and we would not keep our boat anywhere else.
Barefoot Resort – North Myrtle Beach, SC, ICW mm 354. This is our home marina!!! The ownership of this marina has transferred this past year, and the marina is doing great! The facilities are top notch, well kept, and definitely what you expect from a resort location. They are full service, with showers, laundry, and fuel onsite, and unbelievably great restaurants and shopping very nearby. Our harbor master and dock master are people who have been with Barefoot Yacht Club from its opening, and they are truly committed to serving the boating public. We have been members from the beginning and are thrilled with the changes that have occurred these past few months. We highly recommend this marina as a stop on your trip southbound this winter! Captain Ron and Sabra Morgan
Please be advised I have received a lease for a slip at Barefoot Resort Marina. They are fully operational and as far as I know are vetting operators for the onsite restaurant. Paul Crosby
Barefoot Resort Yacht Club, has re-organized and is open for business as The Barefoot Marina. In addition to the existing fine facilities, Dock Master, Bill Rathbun, has added many up-grades, including free pump-out, free WiFi, and Valve-Tech fuel. The restaurant is not yet open, but bids have been offered and the restaurant should be open soon. Transient slips remain at $2.00 per foot with a BoatUS discount price of $1.50 per foot. Not to be confused with Barefoot Landing Dock across the Waterway, the Barefoot Marina lies on the western side of the AICW, just below Barefoot Landing Bridge. You can reach the marina at 843-390-2011 or brc2011@live.com.

Another possibility is Barefoot Marina. Great staff, pool access, walking distance to barefoot landing ( currently being redeveloped).
