Depart the AICW immediately north of the 76-foot Rickenbacker Causeway Bridge (charted as “Bay Bridge). Watch out for the correctly charted finger of 4-foot waters to the north as you cruise east towards the small mooring field and dockage basin associated with Virginia Key Marina. Cut to the northeast just before reaching the mooring field, and keep the moorings to your eastern side, as you cruise to the mouth of the Marine Stadium.
Enter the large “Marine Stadium” cove by heavily favoring the southern and southwestern side of the channel. Begin angling back to the centerline before coming abeam of the small island which abuts the southwestern banks. Drop the hook at any likely looking spot, BUT notice the charted “Obstn rep” (Obstruction Reported) a bit farther to the southeast.
