The intersection of the Waterway and Lockwoods Folly has been a Problem Stretch for years and requires almost annual dredging. See /160354 for a recent ACOE survey.

****NC – LOCKWOODS FOLLY INLET – DREDGING OPERATIONS****
Starting approximately 20 November 2016, Weeks Marine Inc. will be mobilizing support equipment in the vicinity of Lockwoods Folly Inlet, NC. The staging area will be located between the following approximate positions:
33°55’16.56″N/ 78°13’56.61″W and 33°55’23.14″N/ 78°13’29.50″W
Starting approximately 1 December 2016 and continuing until approximately 1 February 2017 the hopper dredge R.N. Weeks and attendant plant will be operating 8 nautical miles offshore of Holden Beach, NC. Work limits for borrow area will be bound by the following approximate positions:
33°52’2.01″N/ 78°10’24.22″W,
33°53’10.65″N/ 78°10’5.07″W,
33°53’30.66″N/ 78°11’11.67″W
33°52’13.20″N/ 78°11’40.46″W
Pipeline corridors will be bound by the following approximate positions:
Line 1: 33°54′ 49.1″N/ 78°15’47.09″W, 33°54′ 09.73″N/ 78°15’44.09″W
Line 2: 33°54′ 44.15″N/ 78°16’46.84″W, 33°54’01.28″N/ 78°16’42.08″W
Line 3: 33°54′ 38.89″N/ 78°17’46.38″W, 33°53’39.44″N/ 78°17’34.93″W
Line 4: 33°54′ 33.44″N/ 78°18’42.30″W, 33°53′ 37.53″N/ 78°18’33.61″W
Dredging operations will continue 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The dredge will monitor marine VHF channels 13 and 16. Mariners are urged to use extreme caution and transit the area at their slowest safe speed to create minimum wake after passing arrangements have been made.
