LNM: AICW MM 13.9 Albemarle and Chesapeake RR Bridge Closed until Jan 10, Chesapeake, VA

Atlantic Intercoastal Waterway – Albemarle & Chesapeake Railroad Bridge – Weather Closure Mariners are advised that, due to high winds exceeding operating thresholds, the Albemarle & Chesapeake Railroad Bridge over the Atlantic Intercoastal Waterway (AICW), mile marker 13.9, in Chesapeake, VA, will remain in the closed-to-navigation position from 11 a.m. on Tuesday January 9th until Wednesday, January 10th once winds subside. Mariners will be notified immediately when the bridge has returned to normal operations. The bridge will not be able to open for emergencies. The bridge has a vertical clearance of 7 feet above mean high water in the closed position. Vessels able to pass through the bridge in the closed position may do so at any time. There is no immediate alternate route for vessels unable to pass through the bridge in the closed position.
