Elizabeth River – Belt Line Bridge Deviation –

Request for Public Comment

The U.S. Coast Guard is requesting public comment on 2 proposed bridge deviations of the Belt Line Bridge over the Elizabeth River Southern Branch, at mile marker 2.6, in Portsmouth, VA to facilitate required track replacement. The work would require the bridge to be maintained in the closed to navigation position during all dates and times listed below. Mariners able to transit the bridge in the closed position would be able to do so at any time.

Proposed Dates/Times:

Monday January 13, 2025, through Friday January 17, 2025, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day

Monday January 20, 2025, through Friday January 24, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a 1-hour opening from noon to 1 p.m. each day.

The bridge would not be able to open for emergencies during these times. At all other times, the drawbridge will operate in accordance with the operating regulations set out in 33CFR117.997(a).
