The ICW passes through this emergency work, which is not in Charleston Harbor, but in another Cooper River, west of Hilton Head Island.
SOUTH CAROLINA – CHARLESTON HARBOR: Daufuskie Island Power Line Repairs
Cape Romain is performing emergency work for Dominion Energy due to Hurricane Helene. The project involves replacing timber power poles and running power lines performed by Aztec Power. The project is located on the northwest side of Daufuskie Island. Latitude: 32-09N / 080-52W (32°9.0000N / 080°52.0000W, 32.150000 / -80.866667) by32-08N / 080-53W. They will transit the area periodically switching out material barges. The crane and material barges secured at the jobsite will be properly lit with LED Barge lights. The project is estimated to begin October 7, 2024, with an estimated completion date of December 31, 2024. Please use extreme caution when transiting the work areas. Their tugboat will monitor VHF-FM channel 13 and 16 if mariners need to contact them. For further information contact: taylorm@caperomaincontractors.com.
