Deep Creek Bridge Closure – Request for Public Comment
The U.S. Coast Guard is requesting public comment on a proposed infrastructure refurbishment project at the Deep Creek Bridge on the Dismal Swamp Canal in Chesapeake, Virginia. The project would require a 75-day closure beginning January 6, 2025, through March 21, 2025. During this time period, visitors to Lake Drummond would be able to access the Dismal Swamp Canal via the South Mills Locks in South Mills, North Carolina or from the various boat ramps along the canal. Vessels transiting the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway would need to use the Albemarle and Chesapeake Canal as an alternate route during this timeframe.
