Key Messages for this briefing: – Fresh to strong E to NE winds and rough seas prevail in the Caribbean through late week. – Shower and thunderstorm coverage will increase as each tropical wave moves westward. – A tropical wave approaching 40W has a Low chance (as of Sun Aug 9) of tropical cyclone formation within 7 days. – A tropical wave emerging off Africa in the next few days has a Medium chance (as of Sun Aug 9) for Atlantic tropical cyclone formation within 7 days.
