Encountered some electrical problems with generator and AC en route to S. Florida. Called Camachee Yacht Yard in St. Augustine and was connected to its president, Peter Sabo. He arranged for me to have service the next day. Technician arrived at boat right on time and quickly resolved both problems. Entire staff could not have been more helpful and competent, and rates were very reasonable. High praise for Camachee Yacht Yard at Camachee Cove Marina!
Stayed three nights. Very protected marina. Staff was very helpful. One of two courtesy cars were always available for short trips into town or the nearby Publix. Clean restrooms and showers. BoatUS discount was a plus. Saw a sea turtle swimming around my boat one day and a manatee getting a drink of water.

Camachee Cove has the best weather protection and also a very good marina. There is a new Publix grocery store just over the bridge in Vilano, making provisioning a snap if you’re staying here. We stayed 3 nights at Cammachee Cove marina in December 2012 and found it to be just as first class as our previous stays. They are always very responsive on the radio with docking instructions and their dock hands are very helpful. We stayed at Commanchee Cove in very early January (Southbound) and again in early April (Northbound). It is still a very well managed facility with two courtesy cars available for use for 1 hour at a time, a very good bar/restaurant with traditional seafood plus very good sushi, and excellent repair services on site provided by both Commanchee Yacht Yard for haul and First Mate Yacht Services for in water repairs/service. Dock and office personnel are friendly, courteous and professional. The physical facilities are still very good but not as pristine as they were several years ago. Howard Rockness Sequel

Stayed at Camachee Cove Harbor Marina at MM 775.5 on 6-20-12. Very nice and the dock master and hand were right on the spot to help us tie up. Fuel 3.99- valvetech- with 5c/gal with Boat US. 1.76/ft with Boat US and 14 for 50amp. Very easy entrance. Ate at the Kingfish Grill on other side of the marina and it was great. I had the Sampler appetizer and bowl of new England chowder. Fantastic. Other had fish and chips and had to put some in a box. Great service and nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back – especially since so close to the town of St Augustine and all the attractions there. Excellent Verizon – phone and wifi. When ldeft this morning, had to turn right around—bad injector. Billy at Camachee Yacht Yard was very knowledgable and got us going again. Charlie on board Wanderlust.

Great stop over for the night! There is a long face dock for tying up and getting fuel. Best fuel prices in the area. There can be a strong current but the dock is an easy approach. The food at the restaurant is very good and they have live music on the weekends (not too late so we slept fine). The staff was extremely helpful. Will stop here anytime we are in the area again! Claiborne: As promised, we stopped at Inlet Marina in St. Augustine Thursday. We checked out the prices on fuel at Comachee Cove, Conch House and the Municipal Marina. Inlet’s price with the usual discounts was .10 – .20/gal less than the others. They do have the best price of any St. Augustine marina on the ICW. Still, it was .15 higher than the price in Jacksonville. The fuel dock is located on the east side of the ICW between the Villano bridge and the fishing pier, which makes entering look somewhat intimidating. However, there is deep water all the way in and out to both bridges, so maneuvering with our 54′ boat was relatively easy. Dockmaster Jay and his staff are on hand to assist. I would not hesitate to take anything up to 80′ into the dock, although I would be sure to have adequate help on hand if the tide is running or there is a strong wind with a westerly component. The Publix supermarket is within walking distance, as is the Villano beach on the ocean. There is a good restaurant with Tiki bar on site, and the entire place is dog friendly, which was very important to us. Although the marina does not have transient slip Jay will allow boats to tie up at the fuel dock overnight for $25. There is no electric. There is water, but it does have a strong sulphur odor. The town of Villano provides a free 100′ floating dock located just south of the fishing pier next to Inlet Marina. There are no services, but boats are allowed to tie up all day to visit the town and the beach. Overnights are not technically allowed, but Jay says it is not enforced. In my opinion, Inlet Marina and the town of Villano Beach are a good place to stop for a day to take on some fuel, re-provision and relax on the beach or at the restaurant. Bill Root
We just stopped at Inlet Marina this morning (5/9/2013). They do not open until 7:30 AM. This was only a minor problem because we had left St. Augustine on the early Bridge of Lions 7:00 AM opening to work the tidal flow heading North. The owner was very nice and very helpful. He even loaned his pickup to my wife to run up to the Publix which certainly got us on our way quicker (no grocery store within walking distance to the St. Augustine mooring field). Very nice gesture! So, we’ve definitely recommend this place. Easy in and out. The restaurant is not open for breakfast, so no report on that. Glen Vetter s/v Freestyle
We took on 200 gallons of diesel on April 13, on the north to the MTOA Rendezvous in Fernandina Beach. We’d never been at Inlet before, but their price looked good. Their 20 cent discount for mentioning Cruisernet or MTOA and another nickel for 200 gallons or more made it even better. Easy in, easy out, plenty of water at the fuel dock, and they have us a 6 pack of beer as a thank you. We didn’t stop at the restaurant, but on a Saturday afternoon, it was filled with people. Visited this marina while northbound in April, 2012. Tied up at face dock/fuel dock and took on diesel for our S/V Carolina. Did not pump very much, but the operator was happy to accommodate us anyway. While taking on the fuel, my wife walked the short walk to the Publix grocery for bread, milk, some salmon and ground turkey, and some salad fixings. She was very enthusiastic about the trip and what the village is doing to encourage visitors. While able to take our 38 footer alongside, if we had made an overnight stay we would have seriously cut into the fuel sales, as we could not have gone inside the face dock to a “transient” slip due to draft and length. Jay is absolutely the nicest guy we have met in a long time. We stopped there on the way south and got inexpensive fuel. Also, received our complimentary six pack. Stopped again on the way up north. Very good fuel prices. It was a rainy, cold, windy night and we finished fueling around 3:30. I asked jay if we might stay on the gas dock instead of moving to an anchorage nearby. He agreed and we stayed. Have not tried the restaurant. Susan borrowed Jay’s truck and shopped at Publix. I walked down there later. It’s close by and a fully stocked market. The beach is another block or so. I would recommend checking with Jay on fuel prices and stopping at Inlet Marine. Tom Law

We wanted to share information about a fuel stop in St. Augustine. We stopped at the Inlet Marina two days ago and bought diesel at $3.89 per gallon, when you purchase more than 100 gallons. We used a VISA. The marina is small and located north of the inlet on the eastern side of the ICW between the old fishing pier and the Vilano Beach bridge. The owner is Jay Meyer and he was extremely helpful and friendly. The dock is a floating dock very close to the water line, so set your fenders all the way down. Another example of a local government catering to wealthy boaters while destroying the quality of life (i.e. , affordable dockage) for the residence of St Johns County. Perhaps visitors should be aware of this fact before opening those fat wallets and paying whatever amount the marina will charge. What a shame.
The entire north and mega dock are closed from damage caused by Hurricane Mathew last October, 6 months ago! This creates a problem for transient dock space. Make your reservations early. See you on the water… Chris & Alyse Caldwell
5-8-16 Now at St Augustine Municipal Marina. At MM777. We like here since in the middle of everything. Had AC problems here but called Dometic and they reccomended Hansen Marine. Chris came out the very next day- even tho they VERY slammed– and not only fixed but also cleared 2 other problems. Charge was VERY reasonable and on top of the chris is a pretty nice guy. Use him if need AC work there. Ate at AIA like everyone else but in the bar and was great!! A walk around is necessary in the town. Careful docking!!! Listen to dock hands. Current can exceed 5kts!! Showers are very clean and laundry is largest i’ve seen. Money change machine! Charlie and Jackie on Traveler.
We docked at the St. Augustine Municipal Marina. The current here is swift, 3-5 knots, and one must be very aware of this in order to get your boat into the slip. The facility is very nice with 8-10 foot water depths along side floating docks. Many dining facilities are very close. I give this marina a solid A. We arrived in St. Augustine around 2 p.m. and Captain Alan did a great job getting Panacea into her slip. We all had a celebratory beer (tradition) and then we went exploring. St. Augustine is full of history but unfortunately it’s all gotten a little too commercial. There were people everywhere. We went to dinner at A1A Ale House, a favorite of Mike’s and mine. We all enjoyed a delicious dinner and a few drinks. Back to the boat for a night cap and off to bed we west. Captains Mary and Mike Dickens
We just love City Marina and St. Augustine. We berthed opposite the new dock area in mid May – and the new break water and wide access made in and out easy. We live on Hilton Head, so strong tides are just a fact of life with us. Sorry if they worry some, but they are what they are, so go with the flow. The marina has a great location, close to the Fort and Historic Downtown. It is a shuttle stop for the trolley tour and public transportation, and has access to a myriad of restaurants. Cabs are cheap and a trip to Super Walmart (about 6 miles est.) was about $10 each way. The marina is clean, the rest rooms are updated, the internet worked, as do the washers and dryers, and the staff was hard working, kind and pleasant. We stayed there nights. This is our sixth visit to City Marina, including one when we left the boat for two weeks. We have never had an issue and just love the place. The new Bridge of Lions is complete, so there is no bridge construction any more, and the view is wonderful without the cranes and barges. It is well run and is a truly down-town marina. I am sure they will see us again the next time we head south.
St Augustine Municipal Marina will not accept credit card information over the phone (unlike 99% of the marinas out there). If one arrives between 1800 and 2030, one is expected to go alongside regardless of the current/weather or launch a dinghy to pay. If their launch operator collects payment, they will only accept cash and *exact change* is demanded. I was told their lawyers would not let them accept the CC info by phone. When I asked if I could pick up a mooring and pay in the morning, I was not too politely asked, “what motel would let you do that?” The services may have changed at St Augustine, but the attitude hasn’t. We remain sheep for the shearing. And the no wake zone was not enforced while we were there. Chris Waln
Recent reports of shoaling at some of the moorings in the St. Augustine Mooring Field were confirmed by phone today, but according to the City Marina spokesperson, the shoaling is continuous and constantly changing. Currently there are moorings with as much as 15ft and some with 0ft. However, the moorings are always assigned and you would be assigned a mooring according to your draft. Thus the necessity to contact the City Marina at 904-825-1026 before picking up a mooring pendant.
Read and heed Larry’s earlier posts. This is tricky if you are not familiar with this marina and the tide. I learned to only approach this marina during a slack tide with my boat. I have a Hunter 36. Crew safety has to be your number ONE concern.
Having read a negative comment about the St. Augustine City Marina, I would like to post a favorable comment as I would hate to see anyone miss this great place that is so friendly and convenient to the historical district, not to mention they have the best fuel prices I could find in a 60 mile radius. The docking here was a breeze and my better half easily maneuvered our 48 foot powerboat “Tropical Breeze” into her assigned slip. During our 3 days here we observed many arrivals and departures of all kinds of boats, none came close to being swept under the bridge. Doug Cordello
We were at the fuel dock at St. Augustine Municipal Marina by 1400. I’ve decided I really don’t like this marina, which is a shame because most of the people are very nice, and the facilities are excellent. The floating docks are aligned parallel to the shore, which normally would be appropriate. However the current does not flow parallel to the shoreline but the axis of both flood and ebb flow is 10 degrees or so off parallel, and therein lies the problem. It is difficult to line up with a slip, and as we found out a year ago, impossible to back out of a slip against the current when it pushes your boat sideways before it can clear the slip. There is, then, no way to escape. The engineers who laid out the docks (if, indeed they were engineers) should have angled everything to line up with the current flow. Added to the problem on the north side is the close proximity of the Bridge of Lions. Getting sideways to the current here could sweep your boat under the bridge leaving your rig behind. Docking at marinas which are aligned with strong currents (I’m thinking Ashley Marina and the City Marina in Charleston) is a piece of cake as one can use the current to advantage both when it’s favorable or contrary. Had a very nice three day stay (November 21-23) in the new mooring field north of the new Bridge of Lions; this is the “SM” (for San Marco) field that is in front of Bay Street and the Castillo de San Marco. For $20/day, you have access to the dinghy dock and the bathhouse (very nice facility), and to a pump out boat (we didn’t use the service so I don’t know the schedule). The moorings are about a month old at this writing; we had not understood the system, and when the installer came by he told us how to correctly attach ourselves (with the “keyhole” much closer to the boat than we had understood) and even sent his diver to detach us so we could easily make the correction. I know the installation of moorings has been controversial in the cruising community, but given the shallow depths, the proximity of the seawall, the channel and the bridge, and the excellent access to marina services and the attractions of Saint Augustine, I have to say that I think the $20 is a bargain. Discounts for longer stays, I understand.

We always enjoy our stay at St. Augustine City Marina. Hopefully the bridge work will be done soon- word is that traffic will start to use the redone Bridge of Lions next month. Of course, they will then be removing the temporary bridge. We had a leaking raw water pump and turned to First Mate Yacht Service to install a replacement pump. They came promptly Monday morning, dealt with the problem and we were on our way before noon. Give them a try if you need help. Sometimes I trek across the bridge and go to the little grocery store on the right a few blocks up. They don’t have everything but do have the essentials, especially meat and vegetables and fruits. Didn’t get to shop this time however.

Can’t get much closer to Old St. Augustine than this and we spent 3 nights here to take it all in. Had a minor engine repair which was quickly taken care of by First Mate Yacht Services who showed up on time with the right Yanmar parts. Great lunch at Bistro de Leon which happened to also be the release day for the 2009 Beaujolais Nouveau – tasty. If you need meat/produce/basic groceries, walk about 3/4 mile across the Bridge of Lions to Stewart’s (on the South side of highway). Recommend this marina on location, facilities, and staff. The marina was quite nice.? The daily rate was $1.75 pf.?+ 6.00 for 30 amp.? The cable TV hookup did not work, but everything else was fine.? We had VERY noisy boaters next to us until after midnight, but they finally quited down (passed out) and all was well.? The facility was right in the middle of everything.? Just a short walk to several restaurants and tours, etc.? We did go to Caps Restaurant by boat to meet friends and family and tied up to their dock.? Don’t let the looks of this place fool you. Here we are at the municipal marina. The core of the NEer is right over us this AM. Winds 30-35 knots steady. It will blow for another day more. I tool this video of the boats on the north side of the marina – bucking in the surge coming in from the inlet. The floating docks really break the surge so the south side in much better. The boats in the anchorage are doing much better than those at the dock. When we travel the ICW to visit St. Augustine we stay at Rivers Edge, back when it was Oyster Creek we stopped in our sailboat. Why do we stop here for overnights rest and relaxation? Easy in and out, Quiet, No or little current. Paul the dockmaster is the best! Sure the docks are old and the walkways are some what tricky. Watch you step type of tricky. But there is a fresh fruit and veggies market around the corner with great prices. Hurricane Patty’s is on the site with a discount for boaters that Paul will give you. Low price fuel delivered by truck, Call Paul before hand. Stores and Sailors Exchange in walking distance or ride your bike. The old city is a long walk or a shot bike ride away. Enjoy!
I stayed at Rivers Edge Marina on April 15, 2013. The marina is older with floating docks and a number of liveaboards. There is a great little bar called Hurricane Patty’s with daily specials for marina guests. They have complimentary bikes and west marine is only a short bike ride as well as grocery store. But the best reason to stop here is the fuel prices. The local diesel distributor will bring a truck to the dock and sell you clean, fresh diesel. I paid $3.75 per gallon including all taxes. We stayed here [River’s Edge Marina] last month. What drew us initially was the opportunity to guy diesel from the truck that the Dockmaster would order for you if you give them prior notice. The fuel price was significantly less than any other marina we had encountered on the east coast of Florida. The truck showed up on time and by us docking at the marina’s fuel dock, it was easy to fuel up. We then moved to a T-head for the night. The docks have seen better days, but are fine. The marina has loaner bikes with large baskets so we could ride to the nearby grocery store, and the propane tank refill store. All that was very convenient. Finally the on site restaurant was filled with locals. The seafood was good and very reasonably priced. They give Happy Hour prices to boaters from Rivers Edge at any time that you eat at their restaurant. We like fancy marinas just as much as most boaters, but this is “Old Florida” and we enjoyed the atmosphere. We were very satisfied with our stay. We much prefer going to Rivers Edge Marina on the San Sabastian River. It’s better protected and less costly than the city marina. It’s closer to the really good restaurants in St. Augustine. We really like The Back 40 Urban Cafe a couple of blocks from the marina. The other good restaurant is Kings Street Bistro. The chef there was chef on Air Force 1 for two presidents. Stayed there [River’s Edge Marina] and it was neat, albiet not a modern place. Eat at Paddys is neat. If you ask, you may get a nice discount. Sailors Exchange is an easy walk, and downtown is not that far either. We prefer it here to downtown. River has some current and turning around in a large boat may be a little difficult (65’+). Not many wakes here, especially versus downtown marina. John Winter

Just filled up today (4/6/12). Price was $3.95. Note that there is a 50-gallon minimum. Also, fuel hose can reach all boats on A dock, but not outer reaches of the T. There is transient dockage between A and B docks to fill up but water in thin during low tide. Pumpout also is located there. Dennis Jay
Quality is fitness for use. St Augustine’s River’s Edge Marina is a quality marina. Equally important, it is a family owned small business. I’ll patronize those before a government owned marina any day. We pick our marinas for safety, cleanliness, utility, and management. River’s Edge (formerly Oyster Creek – they changed the name because people inferred “Creek” meant shallow and passed them by. Strange, I thought one used a chart to determine depth). Whatever one calls it, River’s Edge pays attention to the essentials and leaves non-value added glitz to others to charge extra for.) gets high marks from us on all counts. It is in a safe neighborhood. It is protected from surge, wakes and winds. It has safe facilities (docks, decks, pilings, ramps, etc.). It is operated safely. It is clean. The young man who maintains the laundry, heads, and grounds gets a plus by his high mark. For utility it is very hard to beat. It has the lowest price on commercially supplied diesel for miles (and miles). It is just off US 1, and food & spirits, marine supplies (West), hardware, yada-yada-yada, are literally no more than 15 minutes away — even propane at the St Augustine Beach KOA! If it’s farther, call Eco Ride, a zone-fared taxi that uses a hybrid. Back at the marina, Hurricane Patty’s serves an excellent meal. Its clientele extends well beyond the marina denizens, so they have to pay attention to quality. And River’s Edge is well-managed. This is our third stay, and once again, we left the boat in their care for the better part of a month while we took a road trip. SV/Brilliant Star
We spent about a week here over 4th of July and it was awesome! Dockage for the week was $7/foot/week and with the 30 AMP electric, it cost us about $230 for one week over 4th of July weekend. Not bad for St. Augustine!!
Clean showers, good laundry facilities, friendly liveaboards, loaner bikes, you can’t go wrong here! It’s about a mile to downtown St. Augustine (the tourist section), 1/4 mile to Winn-Dixie, West Marine, and 3/4 mile to Target. Home Depot is another 1/4 mile down from Target and Wal-Mart is maybe 3 miles total from the Marina. Also, Sailor’s Exchange is and 1/2 mile away too! You can’t beat this location.
We recommend staying here instead of the Municipal Marina, quieter, more private, less wakes.

River’s Edge Marina (previously named Oyster Creek Marina) offers three night dockage for the price of two nights at $2.00 per foot($1.50 with Boat US) for Loopers. Historic St. Augustine is a short walk away and shopping (grocery and West Marine) is close. The staff is friendly, bathrooms and laundry are clean and Hurricane Patty’s Restaurant is great! 10 May 2010. I heartily agree with the previous comments. Paul is a gem and where else can you go where you will find a Winn Dixie and a West Marine in the same shopping plaza, a short walk away? The next door to the marina restaurant and pub, Hurricane Patty’s, is excellent value for money, and for marina patrons, it is at all-day happy hour prices. Ask Paul about it. The marina has changed its name to River’s Edge for some reason, risking confusion with one further north on the ICW. Signs for both names remain on the property. When Paul learned about our ice box and $.30/day electricity usage, he charged us only a couple of dollars for our 5-day stay, saying it was ridiculous to ask for more. At last, a sane marina operator! Paul told me some of his story, a sailboater coming from New England – Nantucket – finding it increasingly difficult to find an available, affordable mooring, receiving a pink slip at work and deciding to sail away for other climes. Paul was informative about what is driving marina pricing these days which is useful for understanding their side of the story, at least up to a point. Paul said municipalities are increasing charges to marinas for city services – water, sewage, electricity – in order to stay within their cash-strapped budgets, despite marinas telling them they will pass the costs on to their customers. Marinas, however, are not equipped to meter usage so they apportion costs by dividing their bill amongst their clients, with little regard to the difference between say, a 30-foot sailboat using ice for refrigeration and a 30-foot power boat, more common from our experience – or sailboat, less common – with air conditioning and a refrigerator. The result is, some people make out like a thief while others are required to pay for the thievery and marinas are let off the hook for installing metering. Am I surprised marina customers are mostly powerboats in Florida these days? What is not being acknowledged, however, is another factor – the corporatisation of marinas. River’s Edge – nee Oyster Cove – is a family-run operation. The industry – attempting to establish “industry standards” – is increasingly being taken over by corporations – buying or managing. From my experience, marinas have traditionally been owned by people who love the business. It has never been a huge money-maker but a labor of love – obvious if you look at the reality of overhead and effort involved in running marinas. When corporations move in, the corporate bottom line dominates to maximise profit. They offer access to “resort facilities” – swimming pools, etc – at a price. It’s nice to dip into but deadly if that is all that’s available. For the sake of those who cherish the old cruising values and want the option to continue, it is useful to support the existing family-run marinas. May they always continue. We are docked at Oyster Creek now. They did not answer on channel 16, so we called on the cell and they agreed to answer vhf 71. Go figure. The marina is VERY convenient. Winn Dixie, West Marina, Sailor’s Exchange, and propane refill a short walk. Downtown and historic district an easy one-mile walk on sidewalks. Avis in same shopping center with Winn Dixie and West. The slip we were assigned was to narrow for our Bristol 35.5, so they reassigned us just before we were committed to a too narrow fairway. They re-assigned us to a slip in another fairway, did not know which side the tie-up was on, and it only had about six inches of spare clearance for us between the out piling and the floating dock. Docking was an adventure as it took two tries and a turnaround in wind and current to hit the gap. All the T-dock ends were vacant when we arrived and remain so at this time 4 days later. That said, I would return. The facilities are clean and well maintained. Wi-fi requires a booster antenna from the docks, but is available at the office and the on-site restaurant. We had the pleasure of staying at Oyster Creek Marina the evening of Oct 29, 2009. We entered at just about dead low and had no problem at all getting to the marina up the San Sebastian River. The location is as billed. Close to West Marine, Wynn Dixie and the Sailors’ Exchange. Also, its a reasonable walk to downtown St Augustine. The floating docks are in good condition and the shower room/heads/laundry facility is clean and brite! We’d stay here again. Ed Grygent

There is a there is a Farmer's Market every Sunday morning at the Marineland Marina, featuring fresh produce, seafood, sauces and jams, cheese, organic ice pops, honey, fresh baked breads, soaps, peanuts, art, etc
During our adventures we have spent 3-5 months all told at Marineland, 15 miles South of St. Augustine. Marina looks brand new, Dolphins swim inside the cove, 2 free tickets to see the Marineland scientific research center across the street. If memory serves me cost is $1.25 a foot for a monthly stay. Such an awesome little marina! Very nice staff, helpful and went above and beyond to ensure we were happy. Even provided a loaner car for a run to the Public. Beach is just a 2 minute walk!! Quiet, and deserted, we had it to ourselves! Can’t wait to stop back in the Spring!

Our boat is presently at Marineland. We were there a few days before having to come home for a month and enjoyed it so much will stay another 4 days or so before we head north. Bad weather forced us in to Daytona and up ICW as we were heading north after wintering in the Keys. Stayed at Marineland as we are familiar with it. Eric and other staff are super, from tying up to helping us visit Publix which is about 5 miles away. We had to stay 3 nights due to storm but there is no better deal on the ICW. The secret seems to be out about how good everything here is as it was packed. The price and “laidback atmosphere” are hard to beat. Bill Charleston, S/V Frolic
We stayed two nights at this little marina after leaving St. Augustine in January. Although w have had lots of helpful folks at many marinas, these guys win the prize for the most helpful. As rookies we needed all the help we could get, especially getting into tight places. It is a pretty spot to walk around, and they took folks into town once a day to get groceries. We got a free pass to the marineland center as well. The marina and the surrounding environment was very clean, and they sponsored kayak nature excursions. Claiborne, We spent some time in Marineland Marina recently and found them to be exceptional people. If they didn’t know your name by the time your dock lines were secured, you probably stayed inside for that docking. This is a small marina but lots of helpful people. It is well protected in winds and storms. When we experienced a medical emergency, the staff did everything possible to make a bad situation as good as anyone could expect. We feel they are now part of our boating family and we won’t miss an opportunity to stop to say hello whether by land or sea. Tom Conrad m/v True North
The dockmaster and assistants are excellent, very friendly and there is nothing that they would not do for you. At $1/ft with free laundry and excellent, clean restrooms you simply cannot go wrong. We love Marineland Marina. Everyone there is most helpful and makes sure you have everything you need. They will lend you a car to provision at Publix and get supplies at the hardware store. The bathrooms are kept clean and tidy, laundry is free, and you even get discounts on Marineland tours and kayaking ecotours with Ripple Effect. You can walk in the maritime forest, cross the street to a beautiful deserted beach, and hear the ocean from your boat. Dolphins come and feed each evening in the marina basin. We were treated like family and plan to make a trip to Marineland part of our journey each year. Bravo to Chris Kelley for providing cruisers with a wonderful haven. Dick and Sue Schneider
We were one of the first boats to stay there when they reopened. The two staff guys are amazingly great. We have been there several times now and at $1/ft, given the location, it is tone of the best deals going. Just across the street is the beach, Marineland itself where you can see dolphins and a snack bar. Provisions are difficult to obtain but sometimes Eric’s car is available, even though it is not the marina’s courtesy car (it is his personal car) he often is seen loaning it out. If you borrow it,please fill it up for him. Also, dink across the waterway to see one of the largest protected lands in all of the USA where you can see all kind of critters. Also, at Marineland, they have a group that will take you over on kayaks. This is an example of if marinas do not overcharge, they will always have business. As we have traveled FLA these past two years (from our home port in NC), we see many empty marinas that are charging $2 or more and have few boats in them. John Winter
We spent a week at this facility on our way south and are spending a month here on our way north. Chris, the dockmaster, and his staff are friendly, helpful and go out of their way to make cruisers feel welcome. It’s the kind of place where cruisers may stop intending to stay for a day or two and end up staying much longer. There are beautiful beaches, walking trails and mangroves to explore by dinghy. This is a marina for nature-lovers — there are no restaurants within walking distance and nothing to “do” other than enjoy the natural surroundings. Dockage rates are a steal — $1.00/foot per night and tempting rates for weekly or monthly stays. If you draw more than five feet, however, getting into and out of the marina would be difficult. As you start north this spring, consider a stop here and a visit to Marineland across the street. Stay 3 days and get complimentory pass to Marineland. Kelly and Erick are great, and they love us loopers. Stayed a week when sickness appeared. Great place to recuperate, about 5 miles to Publix which is OK with bike, nice ride (they offered transportation but I wanted the exercise). We plan on staying a week this spring when headed back north and will visit Marineland again. Chris and Eric were fantastic with help and advice, just like last year. (Free laundry during business hours) and wi-fi was better this year (DSL), could use PC without external antenna but IPAD couldn’t connect. I took some long walks on the trails but we did not take the nature tours due to the sickness. Planning on kayak and nature tours next spring. Definitely stop if you have a day or two to chill!
We stayed at Marineland on our way down the ICW in October. Beautiful place. Very nice people. The beach is across the street. Nice hiking or biking trail. The ecotour is wonderful. The guides have great knowledge and love what they are doing. The dolphins at Marineland are well taken care off. They have a lot of interactive programs with the dolphins. If you look for a lot of action this is not the place to stay. If you love nature and some quiet time you have to stop. We were going to stop for a night and stayed for 10 days. If it was up to me, I would probably still be there. Claudia Young

One marina that we’re familiar with that puts you 200 yards from the ocean is the relatively newly opened Marineland Marina between St. Augustine and Daytona (http://www.marinelandmarina.com/). Cruising News: We left Jacksonville eager to get to Marineland Marina after all the great reviews on Cruisersnet. After dealing with a small mechanical issue, I hailed Eric at Marineland to let him know we were running late. His response was, “no problem, safe travels”. This is Friday evening near closing time, no less. Long story short, we made it safely and Eric provided outstanding service all weekend. A 20,000 acre estuary across the ICW, UF Marine Science facilities on site featuring a crystal clear ocean species “pond”, a beautiful, secluded beach across the street, and clean, uncrowded facilities are just a few of the highlights. Back at work now but can’t wait to go back! Mitch
We just left our Pearson 424 “MOJO” at Marineland for a month while I came back to our yacht brokerage to catch up on things. Chris and his staff can’t do enough for you. The facilities are absolutely spotless. Enterprise will bring you a rental car and St. Augustine is just a short drive if you want to do the tourist thing. This nice stop about 35 miles north of Daytona and 20 miles south of St. Augustine was reopened during this past year with all new docks and facilities. The beach on the Atlantic is just across the road as is the Marineland Dolphin aquarium. There are hiking trails and eco tours on kayaks. Dockage is only $1 / ft and there is a 50% discount on electric with Boat US. And the laundry and pump outs are free !!!! There is no fuel and no stores nearby, but if you enjoy being removed from it all and like nature, this is a great stop, with floating docks and 22 transient slips. We stopped for a day and stayed 5 weeks! The marina facilities are always clean, the staff is cheerful and knowledgeable, whether you are tying up in a cross breeze, or taking a Ripple Effect Kayak tour into the hammock across the ICW. The ocean and new Marineland right across the street make your stay really enjoyable. Great rates, free laundry and pump-out, and a courtesy car are also available. Come one, come all! We loved it. Marineland is a magical place! We draw 6ft and have no problem. The heads are spotless. Free laundry. Free WiFi. You can hear the ocean from the boat at night. If you need a ride, the staff will loan you their car. The price is right. Lots to do if you like nature, exploring by dingy or kayak or time at the beach.
Just wanted to echo everything Marc and andree said, marineland marina is a great facility, we too dropped in for a day or 2 and are now staying a month. The beach is beautiful and this stretch of the ICW is unspoiled and borders a huge nature reserve with many creeks to explore by dinghy and plenty of wildlife to see. Can’t recommend it enough. I arrived at Marineland Marina a month ago for what I thought would be few days. Why? What happened to my migration south? Maybe I should not tell you this ; I worry you all make this change… I tell you this as it comes to my mind, no particular order, nor by importance: – It is clean, perfectly clean. – It is new, brand new marina – Prices are VERY affordable. In fact, on a monthly basis, it is MUCH cheaper than moorings you will find in St-Augustine, even for bigger boats. – Free (yes as in 0.00$) laundry – Staff is great. They all go further than expected to make sure you like Marineland Marina. I know first hand. – Marineland Marina is across the A1A road to a beach, large, miles long, and super quiet. I go there everyday for a walk and most of the days I am alone / or we are 3 or 4. In fact on this few miles beach stretch the most people I saw were 6!!! This is rare in Florida, rare in USA, just rare everywhere. – A1A route is super quiet here. what a gem – stay if you can! it is inexpensive ($1/f,t,) peaceful, beautiful, alive with wildlife, across A1A from the beach and the Marineland dolphin research facility. Super dockmaster, Chris Kelly, is helpful, friendly, and knowlegeable. if you like wild and peaceful surroundings, with up to date facilities, do NOT miss the opportunity to stay at Marineland Marina.
We planned to stay one night and ended up staying a week. This is not a place for provisions but has a lot to offer. There is the Marine Land dolphin rehab across the street and a nature trail just south. You can hear the surf from your boat, walk the beach. Nice docks but shallow at low tide. Chris is a great harbor master. Peaceful and pleasant. We will be back.
Echo the comments 10/15/11. Stayed for one night, left St. Augustine headed south and arrived about noon. Enjoyed the marine center, had a personal tour of the facilities at Marineland, it was not crowded. Got some great pictures of Dolphin training, jumping etc.
WiFi did not work on boat without an external stick where we were put. Walked back trails and across A1A where there is a nice beachfront park. We intend on stopping for a week on our way back north for the beach in the spring. With the hatch open, the sound of the surf put me to sleep.
We just want to let those of you passing through northern Florida know about a new marina which we stayed at last night.
We’ve been passing Marineland at mile 795 for years (by boat and car) and always wondered if the basin there would ever open as a marina; we were told by a cashier at the newly-opened Marineland Education Center (the dolphin, etc, display) a couple of years ago that it wasn’t going to ever open as a marina.
Well, all that changed this past August when the Marineland Marina opened with all new facilities, a long floating concrete dock, fixed docks, heads, free laundry and free Wifi. 30 amps shore power was $3.00 with a Boat/US discount (show your membership card).
The beautiful beach and Marineland is a short walk across route A1A. The GEORGIA aquarium is involved in the education center and kayak tours originate from the marina.
We stayed only overnight as we are on the way home to Merritt Island, but if you don’t live in the area you should consider staying long enough to visit the Marineland Education Center (see the new dolphin calf).
The cost is extremely reasonable, but there are no commercial restaurants, etc, within walking distance. It is, however, a beautiful, quiet spot in a sell protected basin immediately off the ICW.
The dockmaster, Chris, is extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the local area and birdlife.

We stopped here on our way home from a failed attempt to cross over to the Bahamas. What a pleasure to stop at a Marina that provides all the assistance needed to tie up safely. Another great feature about this Marina is it has the European Village within walking distance ( less than 15 minutes). Great choice of restaurants and food. The Marina is very protected and quiet. Their diesel prices were $1 less than any fuel we had purchased. On the morning of our departure we were helped off the dock at our appointed time. I highly recommend this Marina but you definitely need to give them a call as soon as you decide because they fill up fast.
Kudos to Chris and staff. Great dockside help with lines. Protected setting immediately adjacent to ICW. Little current and only 1.5 foot tidal range. 120 V shore power, unlike some other local marinas with <100 V. Excellent dockage rates as well. David Grimes
Great stop over! Clean restrooms showers, nice dog walk. Easy walk to restaurants and shops. The pizza at Mezzaluna Pizzeria is above average. Very little tide or current. Sheltered from high winds.
We stayed at Palm Coast, and found the staff very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to fit us in, and make our stay enjoyable. Nice facility, worth a visit.

It is clean and well run by a very friendly bunch of folks. It does appear to need some maintenance work, but the place was still a lot nicer than others we stayed at. And the cost was very reasonable too. We enjoyed the facilities and down time at Palm Coast.
Has become one of my regular stops – always good place to walk over to European village to MezaLunna for pizza. found out they’re not open on Mondays – otherwise pretty much as described above. If you’re getting fuel, I learned this year that there can be a current in that canal, my plan to dock was quickly thwarted by a surprising strong current running east, so turned around and got it figured out.
We stayed at Palm Coast Marina on the way up. Again, nice place but it doesn’t have near the amenities that your cruising guide says it once did. The pool and courtesy van that once took cruisers shopping are both gone. It is clean and well run but we were disappointed because the kids were really looking forward to swimming. Those things were the main reason that I chose to stay there. Oh well. Jennifer Clendinen
We just recently spent a month at Palm Coast Marina in northeast Florida. What a delight! The marina is very nice and the staff is superior. They have reasonably priced fuel and the fuel dock is shaded—small point but how many times have you thought you’d die fueling in Florida’s hot sun! It is within walking distance of European Village which has a lot of unique shops and great restaurants. It’s also located by a lovely walk/bike path that parallels the ICW. If you want luxury this is it. The marina guests have full access to all the luxury resort facilities, which are located on the beach about 1.5 miles away. We just finished our 4 day stay and enjoyed the whole facility – yes they took us to the main area in a Lincoln Towncar ( at no cost). Showers are natural stone and granite abounds. Don’t bring a towel, there are piles of towels there, as well as shampoo, soap and all the fixings,(it’s a luxury hotel). There is a pool at the Marina, and many others at the main resort which also has a water slide (Don’t need towels there either as they have them). The lounge is a common owners lobby and is as good as any luxury hotel I have seen. No it is not near shops and there is no gas (it’s nearby) but if you want to get a massage at a 5 star resort spa at a low cost and have a boat, this place is for you. It is relaxed and just fine for a few days R&R, so enjoy.
Yes, it is a first class facility, from the marina to the hotel and amenities. The marina, however, isn’t in walking distance to the hotel and its many amenities. When we were there two years ago, we had to rely on hotel transportation to and from the marina. They had no fuel on site, but were close to other facilities with fuel. Mike and Judi Wisniewski
This is a HIDDEN GEM on the ICW that is (relatively) unknown. First class marina (Bellingham floating docks) that is part of full-blown golf & beach resort (with free transportation between marina & beach/golf resort that is 2 miles away). Great stop if you are a family (beach, multiple pool complexes with water slides, kids activities program, etc) or golfer (2 superior 18 hole courses – Ocean course & Conservatory course). Several restaurants at the beach resort, too.
Not your typical ICW marina, but if you are looking for a few days to ‘get off the boat’ and enjoy a beach & golf resort this is about the best (and only?) you’ll find on the east coast of Florida.
Marina staff – Neil and Suzanne are very friendly and accommodating.
We stayed here over the long Thanksgiving weekend; checked in on Wednesday the 24th and out on Saturday the 27th. Paid $2.60/foot, including service charge and Florida tax, and were BLOWN AWAY by the place. For that price, you get a great spot at top of the line floating docks, excellent service (from Suzanne and Neil), the most beautiful shower/bathroom facility we have ever seen, a gorgeous pool on the marina side, free pump-out, AND full access to the resort amenities. You can use the resort pools and beach – towels provided – by using the (no extra charge) 24X7 shuttle service; you can dine at any of several restaurants, all very good, at several price points. Not a “bargain” spot, but worth every penny of the charge if you are looking for a little slice of paradise from the comfort of your very own boat.
8 May 2010. Our previous visit was in February when the marina officially opened. This time, the rate was higher but we experienced the full impact of the luxury on offer during a two-day visit, fully justifying, in our view, the $2.25/ft charge with only one minor extra charge. Electricity, wi-fi, access to the full resort, shuttle service and complimentary ice – a first – were included. A 25 lb bag nicely topped up our ice box. The extra charge was triggered by Hammock Beach Resort’s “no tipping” policy, with a 20% gratuity built into everything purchased at the resort. In the case of marina charges, I’m not sure who receives the gratuity, but the staff certainly aimed to please. Our $67.50/day docking charge (yes, they have a 30-ft minimum, which is a pet peeve, but it affects few cruising folks these days) resulted in a $7/day service charge. Now for the luxury… We have paid as much as $3.50/ft at other marinas that cannot hold a candle to what Hammock Beach offered. Showers, toilets and swimming pool are housed at a nearby condominium building. Towels at both the swimming pool and baths are provided. The uncrowded nature of the marina and condominium adds to the exclusivity. A 24×7 shuttle bus is available at your beck and call – for a cell phone call – to transport you to the main resort complex on the ocean side, a couple of miles away. The resort hotel is HUGE. Several restaurants are located in the complex. Neil, the marina manager, recommended the Atlantic Grill, with a panoramic view of the ocean. A qualified chef was obviously in charge, attested to by the cuisine not the price, which was reasonable, for lunch. You are provided with a card when you arrive at the marina that gives you “membership” status, equivalent to those staying at the resort. Restaurant charges and anything else purchased at the complex are charged to the card. A credit card, upon arrival, backs this up. For us, the numbers of people present at the resort were a bit overwhelming. Many were there for golfing. Families on holiday also proliferated. The marina area was more simpatico but it was interesting seeing how others spend their vacations and then to be able to return to the marina. As noted in the description, the shuttle bus passed a Publix on the way to the main resort and I was assured they would let us off and pick us up on a phone call, making this a truly special marina. In summary, everything at the marina seems ephemeral – take advantage of it while it is on offer. Hopefully, others passing through will provide updates on the current status. I have always depended on local knowledge from other cruisers for valuable updates. Austin Whitten
We went to the marina just south and on the east side of the ICW from Palm Coast, Hammock Beach Resort, a new condo-marina. No one responded to the VHF call or to a phone call so we pulled into a large, mostly empty marina, tied up and went looking for personnel. A person in charge, Neil, arrived and was quite welcoming, charging us $1.50/ft, electricity included, for a luxurious facility. The showers and toilets were in a nearby condominium building – towels included. Use of the condo swimming pool was also included. There was a shuttle bus to a restaurant in the main condo complex. We were passage-making so only stayed the night but it was a nice taste of luxury. Clearly the rates and availability will change as the condo fills up but for now, it’s an opportunity you may want to take advantage of. Encountered some electrical problems with generator and AC en route to S. Florida. Called Camachee Yacht Yard in St. Augustine and was connected to its president, Peter Sabo. He arranged for me to have service the next day. Technician arrived at boat right on time and quickly resolved both problems. Entire staff could not have been more helpful and competent, and rates were very reasonable. High praise for Camachee Yacht Yard at Camachee Cove Marina!
Stayed three nights. Very protected marina. Staff was very helpful. One of two courtesy cars were always available for short trips into town or the nearby Publix. Clean restrooms and showers. BoatUS discount was a plus. Saw a sea turtle swimming around my boat one day and a manatee getting a drink of water.
Good protected dockage, marine services, full service yard with haul out, restaurant/bar, and sailboat school/rentals at Camachee Cove Marina on the north side of St. Augustine.

Camachee Cove has the best weather protection and also a very good marina. There is a new Publix grocery store just over the bridge in Vilano, making provisioning a snap if you’re staying here. Also, check out Fish Tales for good burgers, salads and sandwiches. They’re located in the same cove.

We stayed 3 nights at Cammachee Cove marina in December 2012 and found it to be just as first class as our previous stays. They are always very responsive on the radio with docking instructions and their dock hands are very helpful. They have 2 courtesy cars and are flexible with their use if you need to use a car longer than a few hours and no one else requested it.

We stayed at Commanchee Cove in very early January (Southbound) and again in early April (Northbound). It is still a very well managed facility with two courtesy cars available for use for 1 hour at a time, a very good bar/restaurant with traditional seafood plus very good sushi, and excellent repair services on site provided by both Commanchee Yacht Yard for haul and First Mate Yacht Services for in water repairs/service. Dock and office personnel are friendly, courteous and professional. The physical facilities are still very good but not
as pristine as they were several years ago.

Stayed at Camachee Cove Harbor Marina at MM 775.5 on 6-20-12. Very nice and the dock master and hand were right on the spot to help us tie up. Fuel 3.99- valvetech- with 5c/gal with Boat US. 1.76/ft with Boat US and 14 for 50amp. Very easy entrance. Ate at the Kingfish Grill on other side of the marina and it was great. I had the Sampler appetizer and bowl of new England chowder. Fantastic. Other had fish and chips and had to put some in a box. Great service and nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back – especially since so close to the town of St Augustine and all the attractions there. Excellent Verizon – phone and wifi. When ldeft this morning, had to turn right around—bad injector. Billy at Camachee Yacht Yard was very knowledgable and got us going again. Charlie on board Wanderlust.

It has been many years, but I can heartily recommend Camachee Cove as a comfortable and convenient marina stop, that offers far superior weather protection compared to the city marina. It is great to know the folks there are cruiser friendly too. Is there a dinghy dock that anchored cruisers can utilize temporarily?
