Stayed at Cocoa on our way south in April 2013 and were most impressed, the club house and facilities are great, and the marina is well kept and well run. The staff were kind and considerate. Access to town is easy, and we had a good dinner there.
Entry is a little strange, but they guide you in well, so listen and make sure you understand. We had no issues and loved out time there.

Cocoa Village Marina in Cocoa, FL. – the West Basin has a concrete wall protecting it. If you come here, you want the West Basin. There is no tide, and any urge will be wind driven on the Indian River. Yes there is a nice fetch from the North from the Hwy 528 bridge. i did not stay here but did get a look at the docking situation: this place is better suited for boats over 40 feet. the wooden piers are almost 8 feet above waterline and climbing off a small boat can be dangerous and difficult. it is also rather industrial in appearance.
We highly recommend Cocoa Village Marina for a night or two. It is within easy walking distance to downtown. The docks are new and there is pump out service at each slip at no extra charge. This is a great marina with Cocoa Village across the street. There is no problem renting a slip in either the protected west basin, or the more exposed east basin. We found everything top shelf. The facility is under new management but very little has changed, I even heard of more improvements down the road, like slip side pump out. When that happens, this will be a 4 star marina. Don’t miss this one.

Cocoa is good place to stop and spend some money having fun. Ryans Pizza really hit the spot after not getting in further north. For decent protection from the north, the west basin is much better than the east. Good showers, unfortunately the sauna is only for property owners!

Although not a fancy marina, it is the friendliest and most helpful marina we have used when cruising. We first anchored at Dragon Point because of a leaking raw water pump. The marina answered a phone call after closing and offered to help. It did not have a replacement and spent a morning trying to locate one. It allowed us to use it as a shipping point for delivery of a new one I ordered. The marina also has the most complete ship’s store I have seen. It also gave us a discount on dockage for us to bring the boat in to make repairs. The owners are there 7 days a week.
Eau Gallie Yacht Club? We stayed there last Sunday, because of a line of strong t’storms that blew thru. The dockmaster’s name is John Gourmley. He requires 24 hr advance notice for advance reservations, ESPECIALLY for weekends. The reciprocity docks are generally tee heads, so side ties. It’s little exposed to west winds, but generally not too bad. The reciprocity fee is quite high; $2.00/ft of actual LOA (anchor to swim platform or dinghy) and $12 for 50A (or 2 x 30A) electric. The facility is very nice. There’s a nice pool that guests may use. Showers are excellent! There’s a formal dining room which requires jackets and ties, but also a lounge and bar that is completely casual. It’s a two city avenue walk to Publix (abt 3/4 mile, one way). John is a curmudgeon, but you can “yes, sir” him to death successfully. Peg and Jim Healy aboard Sanctuary Currently at St. Augustine, FL

The new folks at the marina are trying their best to right the “old wrongs” that were occurring prior to February 2017. We stayed for 5 days to visit relatives nearby and our boat was very safe. Dock fee was reasonable but it’s too bad they don’t have a weekly rate. We would have stayed longer. Utilities are way out of line but it is what it is. The rate for this marina are now$2.00/ft for catamarans. The bathrooms have new tile and are air conditioned. I nice feature when it’s as hot as it’s been.
I requested the bottom of my boat to be painted. They painted the bottom of my boat along with the barnacles on my running gear. That right!! They painted right on top of the barnacles. Then to top it off after they fixed the problem the owner added another thousand dollars to my bill which has been disputed. When I disputed the bill he pulled my boat out of the water and held it hostage. The police had to be called. Don’t ever do business with this Marina. It has a bad reputation and the owner lived up to it!
Telemar Bay is under New Management effective February 1, 2017. We are making lots of positive changes and ask that you PLEASE give us the opportunity to serve you. Dispite the negative reviews in the past, we are going to do our best to be sure your experience here is a five star rating going forward into the future. Any questions feel free to call the New Dockmaster, James or the new Administrator, Michelle @ 321-773-2468
My husband and I rented a month to month slip for our boat at Telemar Bay Marina for 3 months during the period of November, December 2014 and January 2015. I had communicated with the manager Karen of Telemar Bay Marina many times by email and phone before we arrived indicating to her what we were looking for during our 3 month stay and she explained their rules and we were told that if we did not stay on the boat more than three days at a time we would not be considered live-aboards and would NOT be charged the additional fees. The Marina was very willing to rent us a slip for month to month and required a deposit.
We returned to the boat 3 or 4 times and never stayed over the 3 day limit. We always followed all the rules of the Marina even though the staff changed them verbally each time we came to check on our boat and stay overnight. We were never given written rules. We always checked in at the office each time we arrived to stay overnight. We were told that the owner was watching all activities at the marina by camera and from his condo across the street from the Marina. We were fully aware that we were being watched and had no issue with that as we were following all the rules that we were given.
We checked out with the Marina manager Karen on our departure and was told everything was good and they would mail us our deposit.
After we left in January 2015 we called numerous times inquiring about our deposit. We were told over and over it would be returned soon, or our deposit refund was in the mail.
After more than 3 months and many phone calls, we were told that they were keeping our deposit because we were LIVE-ABOARDS. The reason they determined we were live-aboards was because THEY gave us a bathroom key when we first arrived. This was not the case because when we left after setting up the boat at the marina and then we returned we checked in at the office and they took the bathroom keys back. When I contacted the marina before we arrived I was told we could use the bathroom during business hours. Later that changed and we were told we should use the head on our boat, and that the bathrooms were for live-aboards or transients only. I guess this is why we witnessed several people urinating off the docks. They seem to change the rules to suit their needs, and in this case a reason to keep our deposit. The Marina will no longer answer our phone calls (caller ID).
Since leaving I have read other bad reviews about Telemar Bay, so we are not the only people that the Marina treated this way. We will be headed South again next year and we will avoid Telemar Bay Marina. There are plenty of other marinas in the area. My advice is to avoid this dishonest business.
We did try resolving this issue with the Marina about not returning our $460 deposit in many different ways including the Better Business Bureau and the Marina would not respond. This is one of the reasons they have a D+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. We are also working with Boat US regarding this matter and plan on taking this issue to small claims court. At this point it is on principle and protecting other boaters from being taken advantage of. We plan on continuing our warnings to others and in many different ways and until our deposit is returned.
Suggest y’all stop at Telemar Bay Marina just North of the Eau Galle bridge and Dragon Point. Very friendly! Plenty of room for cats even 42v footers. Russ Davignon
Telemar Marina is an excellent marina for both Space Coast locals and cruising visitors. The harbormaster / staff are very friendly and accomodating. There is a travel lift and small boat yard, though I don’t think they allow DIYs. As Alan mentioned, there really is a lot within walking distance; restaurants, shopping, hardware etc. Captain J
i would recommend this marina to folks looking for a calm and totally protected place to stay just inside dragon point. you can even get in at night .. ask me how i know. publix is near along with a lowes and the beach. the dolphins are very active in this harbor. depths are good up to the marina and around 6′ at the fuel dock.

Stayed here mid Dec 2009 to mid Jan 2010. Very reasonable prices, close to bus stop, and walking distance (long walk) to downtown Eau Gallie. Two heads for transients, not climate controlled. I found water depth to be around 6.5′, but am told that the water depth can change (no tidal current; other factors). The owner/manager is very nice and I felt, easy to deal with. We stayed in Melbourne Harbor Marina Christmas 2016 weekend aboard our Hunter 45 Center Cockpit sailboat. Our draft is 6.5 feet. There is very little tide here, apparently because Melbourne is so far from the inlets to the north and south. One person told me the tide was a maximum of only 6 inches. Within 100 feet of the entrance we showed 0 feet below the keel. We might have been touching or even had an inch or two to spare, although it felt like we were pushing through silt. Once past the entrance, the basin is deep, and remained so all the way to the back. Sitting in our well, however, we again showed 0 depth below the keel. The staff (Phil) was very helpful, and waited an extra 45 minutes after closing for us to arrive on Christmas eve afternoon. The restaurant, Ichabod’s, is excellent; try the clam chowder — best we’ve ever had. And the Key lime pie is excellent, too. Two things we found disappointing — the Wi-Fi was a disaster — it was ridiculously difficult to use, and didn’t work most of the time. We texted their tech support and “Keith” was very accommodating (on Christmas day, no less!) and got it to work — but the “fix” only would last a short time. And their password protocol — a different 10 digit number every day — is silly. They got sold a bill of goods on that installation! And, the bathroom/shower rooms need to be cleaned up and brightened up; they’re very long in the tooth and look it.
Updated and detailed depth Melbourne harbor marina As much as we were skeptical we had to get deisel and telemar bays pumps were/are down 12/12/16. We draw 4.7 and the channel is narrow and the deepest water in the channel is very narrow. Maybe 15 ft across. It starts about 15 ft away from the red side of the channel. We never saw less than the 5.5 on the way in rated feet for that marina. The basin is much deeper. On this way out we were riskier we wanted to test it out a bit for this post. The channel has 6ft al the way in and out but I wouldn’t recommend that a 6ft draft go barreling in there. It could be done slowly and carefully. FYI we saw 4-6 inches of barnacles hard growth on channel markers. So use that as a water depth indicator. Staff was nice. Fuel was avg price. Pump out functional but slow. They let us get water at no rush and let us throw quite a bit of garbage in th dumpster around back. I would go here again. Austin Harrell
We tried to get into the harbour last night and hit bottom in the middle of the channel with our 5 ft draft. We had told them we were 5 ft and was told that there was plenty of water. The marina response to our telling them that we were aground was “Call Sea Tow or Boat Tow” it was late afternoon and blowing 18-20. Eventually we got off and were told to keep to the red markers.. We said no thank you and asked for the nearest marina south which was 15 miles so we went four miles back to Telemar which was very welcoming.
The admiral found a quaint British shop in downtown Melbourne on the Internet and made the decision for us to stop in Melbourne, FL. We found the harbor marina to be a great location within walking distance to the downtown area. We found several unique shops including a homemade soap store, but the real highlight was a new restaurant called The Mansion! It has been recently remodeled, is clean, great food (from sandwiches to steaks) and it has a wine market and liquor store within a block of the marina. The best part for me, was the 73 craft beers on tap and available on the shelf to purchase and bring back to the boat. Dean & Beth are the owners, 1218 East New Haven Ave is the address. Hope you like it as much as we did. Bill Borchert
Claiborne,I am traveling northward from Fort Pierce, FL. to Morehead City, NC. aboard the MY Twilight Time, a WC Hyatt 53′. Having stopped at Melbourne Harbor Marina twice within the last three months, I could not help but notice how rundown the men’s shower has become. It really is in a sad state. While true, Ichabod’s, is still around, the new crown jewel in dining is only one block away, The Mansion in Melbourne. Food, atmosphere, spirits, shopping. deli and a beer garden and rooftop terrace dining with a view of the ICW. Check it out at http://www.thebigmansion.com More as we travel northward. Kindest personal regards, Harold Harold “Cap’n H” O’Briant
There is a nice channel into this protected marina but there is boat traffic and road noise in the harbor. The suggested walking route into the historic district took us thru some rather questionable areas. Facilities are very limited and were a long hike from the slip. No dockside internet.
Ducked in to Melbourne Harbor Marina for 2 days to wait out some nasty weather this week. It was extremely well-protected from the N and NE winds. It was a very nice marina. Dockmaster very helpful. Ichabods Dockside Grille was a great dinner spot; dinner was great, but the key lime pie was exceptional!! Made on site. Service was terrific too. (Thanks Kim). Fun to be here for Halloween. I am currently staying in this yard and have done so several times in recent years. There is no pumpout available now or in recent years. Entry channel depths are more like 5.5’+; we draw 5′ and have come and gone without difficulty. However, wind tides here can vary depths by 2′ or more. We have been here three weeks with no wifi/internet but they say problem is temporary. Winn Dixie is 0.9 miles away, Publix is 2.5 miles away.
I heard boatyard and thought bad things immediately. Yes it is a boat yard but Doug (owner) was a friendly host. We have a 21 foot beam CAT which made turning in the basin a challenge but several people came out to help us tie up. Happy Hour just north of there (5 minute walk) and it was a great visit. Rest rooms were clean and MUCH better than the boat yard I usual go to.
The depths at Sebastian River Marina are not posted correctly. They are 6 foot not 3. We draw 4’10” and had no problems. The channel is well marked and the marina is protected and calm. The owner, Doug, was delightful to do business with and very accommodating. He gave us transportation to dinner and made sure we had a ride back. Very informative, funny and a pleasure. I would highly recommend this marina. This website should correct the depths. Captain Jill Balleh
Greetings, I have a report on the Vero Loggerhead. We are in the “Loggerhead Club” for a month and Vero was a spotless very well run marina. Steve, the Dockmaster/Manager runs a super marina. Publix and a CVS, Walgreens, Brooklyn Water Bagel, Asian House and a nail salon and barber and hair salon are all an easy 3/4 bike ride. The biking is fantastic in the Great Harbor Development (which is where the marina is located). The pool is immaculate and the boaters lounge and bathrooms are spotless. Great washer dryers at $1.25 a load. Those are the BIG pluses. The only drawbacks – to get to restaurants you really need a vehicle. You can bike to the Riverside which is about 4.5 miles away but it’s not a friendly ride – some side walked and a lot not, so you are on a highway. The marina is so nice, many folks wondered why they didn’t have a little tiki bar set up (to overcome the restaurant issue) and a spa. There is room for it for sure. The owners should consider this – it’s not a huge investment and will make it a more fun spot to stay a full season. Again, spotless, well run marina with a staff that is fantastic! We’ll be back!
