Florida and the three South Florida counties — Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade — have nearly identical lists of essential businesses that are allowed to operate during coronavirus shutdown orders.
These are the businesses allowed to remain open in South Florida’s counties

If you are capable of deciphering the current, ever changing regulations re ICW navigation, please reply to Mark’s request. There are bound to be others “stuck” in the same situation of needing to get north prior to June 1st.
We have a 60 ft yacht and it is currently trapped in NC due to the Corona scare. We are hoping to get the boat out of there as soon as we can, so we can get it North for Hurricane season. So we have three questions :
1. Are Boats that are not trailerable, not restricted to move through the ICW to get it to the Bay?
2. If we are not able to move the boat what do we do as the typical Insurance will not cover the boat in the NC area after 5/31 as I am sure many others out there have the same problem ?
3. Any thoughts or has someone heard anything related to this type of problem ?
We appreciate any information anyone may have ?
All the Best,
Stuck at Home
Mark Cox
Over the years I have had several different "hurricane lines" that restricted how far south I could be during hurricane season. One was Oriental, NC and the other was Cumberland Island, GA. I worked with my insurance company to define these restrictions. You should contact your insurance agent to identify your options – the Oriental line was pretty common/normal/easy but I had to negotiate/pay an extra premium to get the Cumberland Island option. Generally, my experience is that you can always get insurance – it is just a matter of how much it will cost. Note this was for a 61 ft motor yacht. Another option to consider is hauling the boat and laying it up for a while if that is an option – obviously not an option if you are a liveaboard. There are some good/inexpensive boatyard options in NC that I have used.

Having just re-opened the Dismal Swamp Canal following three months of maintenance, the Dismal Swamp Canal Welcome Center, A CRUISERS NET SPONSOR, sits adjacent to the Dismal Swamp State Park in Camden County, NC. See Dismal Swamp Canal Re-Opens.
As many of you know, the Dismal Swamp Canal reopened yesterday. We currently have two boats tied up at our dock. We reached out to many of these listings yesterday for updates and found that Lamb’s Marina and Pelican Marina are now temporarily closed to transient boaters. Albemarle Plantation has revised their listing online, too. We have updated this information on our Facebook page and will continue to do so. The Dismal Swamp State Park closed their property to the public Monday afternoon, but visitors can access the paved trail at the end of their parking lot. This trail is managed by Camden County Parks and Rec. The Dismal Swamp Rest Area rest rooms are open to the public. For more information, please contact the Marinas directly for their latest updates. This is our attempt to also help boaters on their decisions. Knowing these are trying times for everyone. May you be well and safe.

The Life Jacket Association (LJA) provides the following guidance.
COVID-19 VIRUS: CLEANING AND STORING YOUR PFD
The Life Jacket Association (LJA) provides the following guidance. For more information on the LJA please visit their website at www.lifejacketassociation.org
If you think your product has been exposed to a virus, clean as recommended by the manufacturer and then let dry in warm, low humidity environment for at least 72 hours before reuse.
Manufacturer’s recommendations for cleaning your PFD:
CLEANING AND STORING YOUR PFD: To clean your inflatable PFD, hand wash or sponge down in warm, soapy water, taking care not to submerge the inflator. Rinse your PFD with clean water and hang to dry on a plastic coat hanger. Do not dry-clean, use chlorine bleach, or apply direct heat. Always store your fully dried PFD in a warm, dry, well ventilated place out of direct sunlight.
If you must reuse your product within 72 hours, the following precautionary guidance is suggested.
DISCLAIMER: Remember it is not possible to carry out or guarantee complete disinfection, the goal is to minimize risk.
