    • [EXPIRED] Reckless Jet Skis Hit the ICW Waters

Personal watercraft, commonly known by the brand name Jet Skis, are the motorbikes of the waterways, loved for their adrenaline-stoking speed and loathed for their high-pitched roar and the daredevil behavior of some who ride them. A water scooter’s standard speed is 40 to 60 mph, but turbo-charged models can go much faster, buzzing along north of 100 mph.

I have a jet ski and love it. I use it for quick hops on the ICW where we live or trips to a local beach. I also have a sailboat and a larger powerboat and I've done the Great Loop. But when I'm on the jet ski, I feel that others look at me as reckless even though I'm not. "Comes with the territory" as they say. But until we have stricter and enforceable laws and police willing to do the enforcing, nothing is going to change.
