Torry Island Bridge Closure
The U.S. Coast Guard has authorized a temporary deviation to drawbridge operations for the Point Chosen (Torry Island) Swing Bridge, across Route 2, Okeechobee Waterway.
The authorization states – The Point Chosen (Torry Island) Swing Bridge need not open to navigation from 8 a.m. on October 12, 2026, through 8 a.m. on December 22, 2026. Vessels declaring an emergency will be passed as soon as it is safely possible to do so. The vertical navigation clearance will be reduced to 8 feet due to a temporary installed work platform suspended from the structure. Vessels able to pass without an opening and given the reduce vertical clearance may do so at any time. Route 1 (Open Lake) remains available to transit Lake Okeechobee during this time.
