CALL TO ART: Crimson Hearts

A community group art show at the Gulfport Arts Center

Theme: Hearts, shades of red
Submission deadline: Wednesday, February 19th
Reception: Friday, February 28th @5:00pm-7:00pm
Show dates: 2/28/25-3/28/25

Submission is FREE and open to local artists of ALL AGES. Any medium is acceptable. All submissions must be an original work that utilizes one or multiple shades of red in a significant way and/or explores the shape or idea of a heart either visually or conceptually in order to be considered. There is no limit to the amount of works that may be submitted per artist but work will be selected based on cohesion to the theme and space limitations.

 Create handmade, personalized collage “love notes” to gift to your loved ones
 for Valentine’s Day.

“Love Spell” Jars – Kids Workshop

 Decorate a Valentine’s Day themed “love spell” jar with colored sand, glitter,
 confetti, foam stickers, and more!

Cupid’s Bow Craft – Kids Workshop
THURSDAY, 2/13 @5:00pm-6:15pm
 Make and decorate a wacky Cupid’s bow and arrow with pipe cleaners, string,
 ribbon, and other materials.

Collagraph Printmaking – Adult Workshop
FRIDAY, 2/21 @5:00pm-6:45pm
TUESDAY, 2/25 @12:00pm-1:45pm
 Learn how to make your own textured, reusable printing plate with cardboard,
 string, bubble wrap, and foam.

Registration is REQUIRED in order to participate in ADULT workshops.
Registration is NOT required for KIDS workshops, but is encouraged!

SATURDAY, 2/15 @3:00pm-5:00pm

Hosted on the third Saturday of every month, our collage group is open to collage artists and enthusiasts of any skill/experience level to collaborate with one another and create art in a calm, shared space. Scissors, gluesticks, and other supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring materials to share and swap with others. 

Registration is NOT required in order to participate!

Original Gulfport Walking Tour 2/1

Historic walking tours have returned! The first tour of the year will take place on Saturday, February 1 at 3pm.

Join Gulfport Arts & Heritage on a stroll through history in the heart of Gulfport. This reworked tour is led by David Anderson of Discover Florida Tours and lasts for approximately 1.5 hours.

$15 for non-members, free for GAH members. Registration is required.

February Porch Party

The Most Spectacular Florida Woman (That You’ve Never Heard Of)
Friday, February 21 at 7pm at the Gulfport History Museum

Cathy Salustri will speak about Emateloye Estenletkvte, known to many as Polly Parker, and how this Florida Woman’s daring escape and quest to reclaim her home led the Seminole Tribe of Florida as we know it today. Salustri’s new book, Florida Spectacular: Extraordinary Places and Exceptional Lives, will be available for purchase after the talk.

Doors open at 6:30pm, program begins at 7pm.
