The Summer season is in full swing and we continue to work on issues that are important to our stakeholders. Congress is slowly moving forward on the Appropriations process and we hope to report on progress in July. They are behind schedule due to the focus on the Covid-19 response. In the meantime, we are collaborating with our Association partners to continue to pursue other federal legislation that is beneficial to AIWW users. We want to share two of those opportunities for you to participate with us below:

AIWA is engaged with our partners from the National Marine Manufacturers Association and Marine Retailers Association of the Americas to support their collective efforts and strengthen our overall mission as stewards of the Waterway. This week two important Boating United Action Alerts have landed in our inbox and we want to use this opportunity to highlight these alerts.

      E15 & Biobutanol Fuels
The widespread usage of E15 Ethanol fuel is a leading concern for the recreational boating community due to the damage high levels of ethanol causes to marine engines. Fortunately, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is considering making changes to regulations that would provide boaters more options at the gas pump. If approved, EPA’s proposal would further promote the usage of more efficient and safer alternatives to E15 such as biobutanol. This commonsense modification will provide tremendous benefits for boaters, the environment, and the economy. To act now, visit link below.

Reauthorize the Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust FundThe Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund supports conservation efforts to protect the natural marine environment and waterways for generations to come. At no cost to taxpayers, the Trust Fund operates through voluntary user fees which go directly to conservation efforts, boating infrastructure projects, and safety and educational programs. Recreational boaters and sportsmen like you understand the importance of unpolluted water and robust access more than anyone. The Trust Fund will expire at the end of 2020 if Congress doesn’t act.
