“In Plein Sight” First Friday Quarterly Art Walk

April 5th-Recap

Our 5th annual Plein Air Art Walk was a huge success! 12 local artists painted various locations throughout Gulfport during the week leading up to this Quarterly First Friday event on April 5th. Their pieces were then entered into a juried art competition judged by one of last year’s winners, Lauren Ireland. Cash prizes were awarded to Janie Haskins for Best in Show, to Nancy Poucher for 2nd Place and an Award of Merit to Cedar Kindy. The reception and judging took place at The North End Taphouse. A Kids Tent and Drawing Event, sponsored by R.W. Caldwell Realty took place at The Gulfport Gecko statue. The drawings will be displayed at The Gulfport Public Library and prizes will be awarded to three young artists. You can see the Plein Air paintings displayed at The Gulfport Merchants Chamber Welcome Center through the month of April.
