ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — El Galeon arrived in St. Augustine Wednesday just in time for city’s 450th commemoration.
El Galeon is similar to the kind of ship the city’s founder sailed when he established St. Augustine in 1565.
It is returning from a tour along the Atlantic coast.
People came out to greet the 16th century replica ship as it passed through the Bridge of Lions about 1 p.m.
El Galeon will be open for tours during the day starting Thursday.
There’s a special discount in light of the 450th Celebration: $10 for adults and $5 for children.
It will also be open in the evenings for wine events for adults. Tickets are $25.
The ship is now docked at the municipal marina in downtown St. Augustine until Sept. 20.
