      Scout Hall, 5315 28th Ave. S.

How is this class unique? It reminds one of yoga, Pilates, Feldenkrais and maybe other practices and yet it is not. It does not focus on repetition of a set of exercises. The classes are built on a flow of movement with a main theme that develops and finds connections in the body that make sense for more efficient movement. Words do not do it justice; it has to be experienced within the body. Is it easy? Not really. Is it too hard? Absolutely not.

This class will focus on attention as we work, coupled with body awareness, allows us to find pathways for movement that re-balance our system. It is a study about our own patterns of movement which we can change to make more sense to the system.

Classes are slower than most classes, which allows us time to find the connection, pay attention and concentrate on the center and the core of the body. No mindless repetition, but a strong mind-body connection.

We allow movement to flow, progressing in a circular motion so as to follow the shape of the joints, utilizing breath, imagery and intention while we work. All that puts us on the pain toward attaining new levels of wellness.

Osgood Point Trail Connector Opening Ceremony
      Saturday, October 19th at 9 a.m.

      26th Ave. S. & Quincy St. S.

Join the City of St. Petersburg and the City of Gulfport in celebrating the formal opening of the Osgood Point Trail – a connector providing enhanced transportation, accessibility and mobility between two great cities. Walkers, joggers, cyclists and everyone in between are invited to join Mayor Rick Kriseman and Mayor Samuel Henderson on Saturday, October 19 at 9 a.m. at 26th Ave. S. & Quincy St. S. for a special ceremony and remarks.

The Osgood Point Trail connector provides enhanced connectivity for pedestrians and bicyclists from the existing St. Pete trail network to Gulfport’s downtown center, beachfront area and the Gulfport Casino, a historical landmark recently named to the National Registry of Historic Places.

In addition to this connector, there are plans to add nearly 150 miles to the existing 100+ miles of multi-use trails throughout Pinellas County as part of the Long Range Transportation Plan – a Forward Pinellas initiative.

      Saturday, October 19th

      3 – 5 p.m.
Gulfport History Museum, 5301 28th Ave.

Join the Gulfport Historical Society as they take a stroll through history in Gulfport. The tour examines the creation of this small seaside hamlet; the tour guides — all Gulfport locals with a penchant for history and storytelling — share the town’s history and stories with the group. The tour starts at the Gulfport History Museum where you can take a peek at some of their historic photos.

Tour free for Gulfport Historical Society members. All others pay $10 per person. We have a water cooler at the museum; please bring your refillable bottle to fill up before the tour.

These tours sell out, so advance ticket purchase is highly suggested. Members should pre-register to ensure they have a spot. We don’t love turning people away, but when the group gets too large it’s hard for everyone to hear our tour guides.

      About the Book
Lost charms, selfish crows, scary forests, and mad dogs! There are so many problems to solve. Thankfully, a group of special animal heroes have the solutions. While living in their small village, steadfast McGovern, beautiful EllaBella, energetic Paddy, silly Tank, and brave Duke have made it their mission to help lost animals and children, stop bullies, and run down thieves. Throughout all their adventures, the Livingston Cove Gang remind us that we are at our best when we keep our imaginations active and our hearts open while focusing on helping others. In this delightful children’s tale, a band of brave and special animals prove that values and morals still exist and that humans and animals can always learn from each other.

      Gulfport on the Go!
      Get the City App

City of Gulfport is proud to announce the launch of the new City of Gulfport app for iOS and Android mobile devices, the newest way to connect with its citizens.

The Official City of Gulfport app offers citizens a simple way to submit requests-like reporting potholes, signs, trash or debris, code violations, and inquiring about an event venue. Users can include an address and description, GPS-specific location, as well as a photo of the issue. Once a request is submitted, you can keep track of pending and completed requests within the “My Requests” section. In addition, the City app has direct links to the online utility bill payment system, the City calendar, frequently asked questions, the city employee directory, the sanitation department, and the electronic newsletter signup.

The City App allows residents to connect more conveniently with City government to report issues and request non-emergency services. Offering more ways for citizens to connect with the City, please email info@mygulfport.us or call 727-893-1118 with questions or technical issues about the smart phone app.
