It’s October already! The Chowan County Fair has just wrapped up, and we’re already jumping into another exciting month filled with parties, festivals, parades, and interesting events! Fall is here, but things haven’t slowed down. As you’ll see below, things are only just getting started. It’s a packed month with so much to do! Peanut Festival-October 4The Peanut Festival and Battle of the Bands returns on October 4. The festival features a day filled with a parade, food, arts and crafts vendors, a farmers market, exhibits, rides, music, entertainment, and so much more. The parade starts at 11 a.m. and ends at John A. Holmes High School, where the festival takes place all day. The Battle of the Bands brings together high school bands from all across the region later in the day. | | |
| | Sunday Street Party-October 5The Sunday after the Peanut Festival, the party continues with the Sunday Street Party! The social district will be open to enjoy beverages from Governor’s Pub, Edenton Bay Trading Company, or Surf, Wind, and Fire while you listen to some good music and eat some great food! |
Armchair Traveler Series-October 6, 20, 27The armchair traveler series continues with three dates in October at the Shepard-Pruden Memorial Library. October 6th: Monitoring our waterways – keeping the Albemarle Sound & Chowan River clean October 20th: The rich history of Chowan Co. Rosenwald Schools October 27th: Mysteries & Histories of an Archeological Dig. | | |
| | 23rd Annual Shrimp By The Bay-Friday, October 10Shrimp By The Bay is a long-standing local favorite event held on the Historic Chowan County Courthouse Green in early October. Live music and dancing will accompany a traditional meal of shrimp and fish! Tickets are on sale now! |
Down East Preservation Workshop Series, October 25Interior and floral designer Briley Johnson will be teaching the community how to master the art of flower styling. | | |
