Set in beautiful Camden Count, NC, the Dismal Swamp Canal Welcome Center provides free dockage for cruisers' on the Dismal Swamp AICW Alternate Route

The Dismal Swamp Canal Welcome Center Docks and information are provided at the Dismal Swamp Canal Welcome Center, A CRUISERS’ NET SPONSOR and a NC DOT Rest Area facility, located adjacent to the Dismal Swamp State Park, offering trails, exhibits and ongoing programs in Camden County, NC.

Free Fishing Day!
Wed, 07/04/2018 – 10:00am to 4:00pm
Try out fishing without having to buy a license! The park will have a limited number of poles and some bait available for you to use.

Summer Paddle

Join the ranger for a leisurely guided paddle along the historic Dismal Swamp Canal and beat the heat! Everything you need—kayak, paddle, PFD, and instruction—will be provided. You must pre-register by calling the office to reserve your spot.

Which Way Do We Go?

Could you find your way around without GPS? Learn how to read and use a good old-fashioned map and compass! This is a hands-on event with indoor and outdoor components, including a practical exercise to test your skills. All are welcome, but most appropriate for children in upper elementary grades or older.

Bike to the Burn

Join Ranger Joe for a challenging (but rewarding) bike trip to the site of the last wildfire in the Swamp. Over 6600 acres burned in 2011, but the area is rebounding and offers habitat to everything from eagles to otters!

Please call the office to pre-register for this event. You can bring your own bike or borrow one from the park. Helmets will be required for all participants.
