    • [EXPIRED] Leonard B Knox Bridge on Single-Leaf Openings through Feb 20, 2018, AICW Statute Mile 816

      L. B. Knox/Bulow/Highbridge Road Bridge, a bascule bridge with a closed vertical clearance of 15ft, crosses the Waterway at Statute Mile 816, south of unlighted daybeacon #24.

FLORIDA – ATLANTIC INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY – TOLOMATO RIVER TO PALM SHORES – INDIAN RIVER – HALIFAX CREEK:-
HIGHBRIDGE ROAD (KNOX) BRIDGE: Single-leaf Operations.

The Coast Guard has issued a temporary deviation from the operating schedule that governs the Highbridge Road (Knox) Bridge across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (Halifax River), mile 816.0, at Ormond Beach, FL. The deviation is necessary to accommodate the replacement of trunnion bearings for the west bascule leaf. This temporary deviation allows the bridge single-leaf operations from 7 a.m. on January 16, 2018 through 7 p.m. on February 20, 2018. This temporary deviation will reduce the horizontal clearance to 45 feet through the east bascule span. Due to the presence of a construction barge beneath the west span, the bridge tender will not be able to provide a double leaf opening. Vessels able to pass through the bridge in the closed position may do so at anytime. At all times, vessel should proceed with due caution. If you have questions regarding this temporary deviation, call or e-mail MST3 Rory Boyle, Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville, Waterways Management Division, telephone 904-714-7648, e-mail Rory.C.Boyle@uscg.mil.
