It is always good news to have dredging done at this Problem Stretch notorious for shoaling and shifting channels.
NC – LOCKWOODS FOLLY INLET – DREDGING
Southwind Construction Corp. will be conducting dredge operation in Lockwood’s Folly River and Lockwood’ Folly Inlet Crossings, Brunswick County North Carolina, with fill placement at Oak Island Beach Placement Area. Submerged and floating pipeline associated with dredging operations, will be used. Mariners are urged to transit at the slowest safe speed to minimize wake, and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made. Pipeline and vessels will be visibly lighted and marked pursuant to Coast Guard regulations. Submerged pipeline will be positioned parallel and adjacent to the southern shoreline of the ICW, then traversing westerly and then southeasterly to the westernmost limits of Oak Island Beach Fill Placement Area.
Dredge Wilko and workboats Ann Kay & Danny Joe will monitor VHF Channels 13, 16, and 79. Dredging will commence on Jan 25, 2021 to Feb 28, 2021, 7 days a week, 24 hrs a day. For questions or more information, contact Darrell Stewart at 812-868-7006. Chart 11534 LNM 3/21
