[EXPIRED] LNM: Cumberland Sound Range Lights Destroyed, GA AICW Statute Mile 706 to St Marys River
Broad Cumberland Sound flows south from Georgia and intersects the St. Marys and Jolly rivers near the Florida border at marker #29. The sound itself is wide and unprotected, with no facilities. Winds over 15 knots can make for a dusty crossing, but on days of light breezes, the Cumberland makes a pleasant introduction to Floridian waters. The sound is traversed by a well-marked channel that splits between markers #31 and #29. The ICW continues on to the south while the eastward passage leads to St. Marys Inlet.
