This harbor dredging will be in the vicinity of the constantly shifting entrance to the Beaufort waterfront channel. Extra caution will be required. See Buoy 3 Off-Station.

NC – MOREHEAD CITY HARBOR – EMERALD ISLE – DREDGING – BEACH NOURISHMENT
Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company will be conducting dredging and beach fill operations beginning Jan 2021 through 30 Apr 2021. They will use an area approximately 1,690ft x 645ft between Radio Island and Goat Island near the Beaufort Inlet Channel as a staging area for pipeline and waterside equipment. Mariners should note that inside the coordinates of this waterside staging area, there could be pipeline on the bottom that could cause hazards to navigation and all vessels should avoid and stay outside of this area defined by the coordinates listed below. This work will involve hopper dredges, tugs, barges, derricks, and crew boats, which may be contacted on VHF-FM Channels 16 and 13. Material will be dredged from the designated ODMDS Borrow Site just west of the Beaufort Inlet Channel Buoy 5 (LLNR 29335) and Buoy 7 (LLNR 29337).
