      There is no indication that this dredging is in the Waterway channel or that it will affect navigation. Caution in the vicinity of dredge equipment is still called for.

      NC – OCEAN ISLE BEACH – SHALLOTTE INLET – DREDGING
      Starting approximately 8 March 2018, Weeks Marine Inc. will be mobilizing pipeline and equipment in the vicinity of Shallotte Sound, Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Starting approximately 19 March 2018 and continuing until 15 April 2018, the hydraulic dredge C.R. MCCASKILL and attendant plant will be operating in the vicinity of Ocean Isle beach NC.

      Borrow Area for Ocean Isle Beach will be bound by the following approximate positions:
      33°54’23.85″N, 78°23’28.90″W
      33°53’32.94″N, 78°23’22.38″W
      33°53’35.32″N, 78°22’8.58″W and 33°54’44.19″N, 78°22’31.79″W
      Equipment Staging Area for Ocean Isle Beach positions:
      33°54’15.20″N, 78°23’28.10″W
      33°54’13.86″N, 78°23’27.73″W
      33°54’16.33″N, 78°23’11.80″W and 33°54’18.26″N, 78°23’12.38″W
      Once underway, dredging operations will continue on a twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. The dredge will monitor VHF-FM channels 13 and 16. For information or questions contact James Price at 985-630-2512.

        They are pumping it onto the eroded east end beach. It would be nice if they would suck out the sandbar in the ICW though.

        Went through there Saturday. This is off the Waterway. According to locals they are salvaging sand for another location.
