      This notice is posted for our tall-masted friends who might need more than 65ft in order to visit Wilmington’s attractive waterfront. The Cape Fear Memorial Bridge, with a closed vertical clearance of 65ft, crosses the Cape Fear south of downtown Wilmington.

      NC – CAPE FEAR RIVER – CAPE FEAR MEMORIAL BRIDGE – BRIDGE MAINTENANCE

      Mariners are advised that the highway drawbridge – Cape Fear Memorial Bridge over the Cape Fear Rive, mile 26.8, at Wilmington, NC, will be maintained in the closed-to-navigation position and will require a two hour advance notice to open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. from March 2, 2021, through March 3, 2021, with an alternative work date from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 4, 2021.There is no immediate alternative route for vessels unable to pass through the bridge in the closed position. The bridge provides a vertical clearance of 65 feet above mean high water in the closed
      position. Vessels able to pass through the bridge in the closed position during these closure periods may do so at any time. At all other times, the drawbridge will operate in accordance with the operating regulations set out in Title 33 Code of Federal Regulations Part 117.822. Mariners should adjust their transits accordingly and should use caution when transiting the area. Chart 11537 LNM 6/21
