Cavache Inc.’s Dredge, MAYA CAELYN will be conducting dredging shoal material on the Okeechobee Waterway, Reach 3 & 4 on the St. Lucie River of the Intercostal Waterway and in the vicinity of St. Lucie Lock and Dam structure. Mobilization of equipment and pipeline set up is expected to begin in January 15, 2021 and Dredging operations to begin in mid-January. Project should complete no later than July 31, 2021. Portions of the pipeline closest to the dredge will remain floating and will be marked with flashing lights at night. The remaining pipeline will be run along the waterway or sunk to allow boating traffic. Mechanical excavation and barge operations will be included in this project. Barges will use the ICWW to transport the dredged spoil to disposal facility.
Boaters are urged to stay clear of the barges and the dredge to avoid potential interference with the pipeline and operations. Boaters are urged to take caution around working vessels and keep wake to a minimum. Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after arrangements have been made on VHF Channels 16 and 79.
