My husband and I visited this marina before our vacation to preview it. We drove our car and when we got to the marina we weren’t impressed. The docks were in need of repair with nails poking through. We went into the dock asters office to inquire about pricing…the older lady working there was helpful but the gentleman there was to busy to even acknowledge our presence. We even asked him a question and the never looked up at us. Then we went to check out the restaurant and the older lady working there was very rude to us when we inquired about the menu as they weren’t open yet. Needless to say we will never stay at this place.
Docked at this marina June 3rd 2015 for lunch. Dock-master informed me of “new” policy, cost $45 TO DOCK FOR LUNCH ! Said I could stay all day and I get a $25 coupon to use on premises. I guess if I got a $25 lunch then docking for the privilege of eating there would only cost $15.00 What a deal! Turned around and promptly left. Cabbage Key is much better and just a little further up the waterway.
Access from ICW is NOT marked. Take a heading of 215deg from ICW Daymarker #38 and eventually you will see Private Daymarker #2, from there the channel is well marked.
The marked channel to the west, slightly north of ICW#38 is the new marked channel to Southseas Marina.
‘Tween Waters Marina is as good as ever. We were there recently and all facilities were great. Anchorage in Roosevelt Channel is pretty thin, however. It is very hard to find any low water depth over four feet up in the protected part of the channel.

Please don’t tell anyone how great Tween Waters is, or we won’t be able to find space! Seriously, this is a great marina with lots to do while there. The Dockmaster is helpful and the docks are in good repair.

Tween Waters Inn and Marina is a good cruising destination but one must be prepared for a different docking situation. They have a long face dock for side-to docking for larger boats.
Smaller boats will be docked closer to shore in slips. These slips have no finger piers so one must exit their boat via the swim platform. With low tides this can be difficult, so be sure to carry a small step ladder that will fit your swim platform. Also, you will take a spring line off the piling to tie either amidships or bow, depending on the length of the boat. This line is attached to the piling by a pulley with a weight on the end. This keeps tension on the line and really does keep the boat in the proper spot.
There are two restaurants on the premises that allow for casual or upscale dining. The Old captive House has many local fish favorites on their menu plus items for the landlubber. The weather was quite chilly when we were recently there and the fireplace in the Crow’s Nest was wonderful. Next door to the resort is the Captiva Island Yacht Club for those who have reciprocal privileges.
The beach is just across the street and they have a large heated pool and spa. All in all, this is a good destination or a stop on a longer cruise.
