NAV ALERT: UPDATE: Atlantic Ave and Las Olas Bridges, Shutdown, AICW Statute Miles 1039.5 and 1064
Discussions with USCG and FLDOT indicate that repairs to Atlantic Ave Bridge and Las Olas Bridge (2/9 reported to be operating – see Mike’s comment below) should be completed within one week. Commercial Blvd Bridge is open on single-leaf operation. See earlier NAV ALERT. Our thanks to Sue Ward for this alert.
Atlantic Ave bridge, Commercial blvd and Las Olas bridges on east Florida ICW
Hi Larry. I picked up a report that the above three bridges are either restricted in width (Commercial ave only opening West span) or “locked down” for repairs after inspections for the next 3-4 weeks. This is going to seriously affect all cruisers heading north and south on the ICW. The Atlantic Ave bridge at mm1039.6 is 12ft closed. This in effect would appear to completely obstruct navigation on that section of the ICW. The report seems to have come via the SSCA cruising club. I have to say I have not checked it as we head home to the UK in a few days. Just glad we already came north back to our base at Indiantown. Best wishes Sue Ward M/V Jenny

Las Olas draw bridge was initially expected to be down for several weeks. Two days after the closure, the bridge is up & running normally.
The bascule bridge on the icw at atlantic ave is closed until further notice. The number to the bridge is 561 276 5435
