      Caesar Creek, Broad Creek and Angelfish Creek all connect Card Sound and Biscayne Bay to Hawk Channel with the western terminus of each channel where waters shallow being the issue for cruisers. Carlos is requesting Local Knowledge on depths in the connecting channels.

      I have an Ericson 28+ with a 4 foot draft shoal draft keel
      Does my boat draw enough water to go through Caesar Creek, at the south end of Elliot Key in Florida; or do I cross over using Angel Fish Creek?

        I haven’t tried Caesar’s or Broad Creeks, but based upon comments from numerous cruisers would not consider either to be suitable for my 5′ draft. Best bet is stay with Angelfish Creek. The shallowest water is on the Hawks Channel side between channel markers R2A, G3A, G3, R2 with no more than 5.5 feet with Ocean Reef tide at +1.0. Be sure to do a radio call to alert sportfish vessels which must come through on plane.

      Rather than stopping at great sale we decided to go to grand cay and rosie’s place. It happened to be thanksgiving so we signed up for their turkey dinner. It’s a wonderful thing when something exceeds your expectation, but this dinner truly did. Thick slices of turkey, baked ham, stuffing, cranberry, conch fritters, crab salad, cheese cake, the list just goes on. All this for $15! We’ll definetly be back.

      Are you looking for a rock solid crew member to sail with or help you with chores?

      I’m a super easy going guy, not as quite young as I used to be, but close, and very experienced in all aspects of boating, both power and sail. I have my own 36′ sailboat, but it’s here in Eastern Canada; need I say more! I need “warm and sand”.

      Looking to spend some time in the Bahamas this winter in order to better prepare myself for my trip south next year. A terminally ill family member has prevented me from sailing from here this fall, so hopefully God willing, next year.

      I have tons of boating experience, inshore and offshore; very adapt at most repairs; super clean; love to laugh; non smoker; very attentive; dislike politics; love to cook and prepare. Can come for a week, a month or longer. Will pay all of my expenses, and then some.

      Or maybe you need someone to look after your boat? I guarantee it’ll be left better than it was found. References available.

      Consider me please if you need crew, maintenance, etc.

      Port City Marina is located along the eastern banks of the Cape Fear River, in the heart of downtown Wilmington, NC. These good words for Port City Marina are posted with permission of Ray Henry from AGLCA’s Forum.

      Port City Marina is a spectacular new marina in Wilmington. We were there for 6 months. A bit spendy at $14/ft, but well worth it for a short period of you are going to be aboard much of the time. Easy walk to all of the great downtown eateries. Fantastic staff. The Shell has some fun events right there.
      If you’re not going to be aboard, then likely not worth the cost.

      Marker Uncertainty at Browns Inlet/AICW Intersection, Problem Stretch, Statute Mile 237

      Our thanks to Kevin and Debbie Stone for this Problem Stretch report. Last dredged in November of 2016, Browns Inlet is a perennial shoaling threat and it is wise to follow the advice Cruisers’ Net has been giving for some time: follow the markers and do NOT follow the Magenta Line in this stretch of the ICW! See an Oct ’17 survey.

      Mile 236, Browns Inlet, NC
      Green floating markers may not be accurately marking recent shoaling.
      Today about 1 hour prior to low tide, a catamaran was aground mid-channel.
      Our 4.5′ draft successfully transited close to floating Red 60.

      Is there a spot on here that posts destinations for other boaters?

      We are in a 30′ Bayliner heading to South Florida in a few days and looking for others that are going to the Bahamas in mid December.

      If anyone is going and looking to travel with another boat, we would appreciate your company and comments.
