[EXPIRED] LNM: Details of Scheduled Closures of Railroad Bridge, VA AICW Statute Mile 5.8
With a closed vertical clearance of 7ft, the Norfolk Southern #7 Railroad Bridge is the third ICW RR bridge south of Mile Zero. Someone listened and the maintenance has been delayed from Novmber 12 to November 26 or later. Our thanks to Matt the Bridge Tender for this schedule of closures of the AICW in Virginia. Below is the new MSIB describing the scheduled closures of RR Bridge #7 for maintenance. For Tug dispatchers – please pass on to your tugs that may use this bridge which is adjacent to the Gilmerton Bridge.

Summary:
Bridge maintenance will be performed on the Norfolk Southern #7 Railroad Bridge on the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River, located at river mile marker 5.8, Chesapeake, VA. This will result in closures of the Intracoastal Waterway at that location.

Norfolk Southern #7 Railroad Bridge Maintenance
Bridge maintenance will be performed on the Norfolk Southern #7 Railroad Bridge on the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River, located at river mile marker 5.8, Chesapeake, VA. This will result in closures of the Intracoastal Waterway at that location.
The bridge will maintained in the closed-to-navigation position from 7 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. – 5 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays on the following dates:
November 26th – 29th
December 3rd – 6th
December 10th – 13th
At all other times the bridge will operate normally. The bridge will be able to open for emergencies if at least 1-hour notice is given and if there is no immediate alternate route for vessels unable to pass through the bridge in the closed position. If work is completed earlier than December 13th, the bridge will resume normal operation sooner.
